As a canine companion owner, it is essential for you to provide the best dental care in your power in order to keep your pet healthy. It has been estimated that only 2% of pet owners brush their pet’s teeth daily. The most common dental problem seen in pets is periodontal disease, estimated that more than two-thirds of pets over the age of three suffer from some degree of the disease. Brushing our pet’s teeth is essential to preventing periodontal disease and other future oral diseases.

Paw Ready BiteBlock and BrushMate Toothbrush

Brush Regularly using Paw Ready Products

Dental cleaning procedures for pets by a vet cost between 500 and 3,000 depending on whether an extraction is needed. Pet owners take care of their pet’s teeth by regularly brushing their pet’s teeth as they do their own. However, when brushing their pet’s teeth, the pet is uncooperative and tends to bite their owner’s hand during the procedure.

Brush one side and then the other by switching hands.

Tips for using:Sit the dog down in a corner, and stand above them behind the two front shoulders, facing the same direction as the dog. Pinch your legs together holding them in place. Place the gag in their mouth and using the gagging hand, strongly grab the entirety of the muzzle top and bottom, and hold it shut. You should be able to brush both sides from there if they are amicable. I used this gag to scale the carnassial teeth and K9’s of plaque with a dental pick. Worked fantastic, great access because of this nifty little piece of silicone. If the dog is less than receptive, you can use two people and have the dog in sternal recumbency, or if you are alone, press the dog’s face firmly against your thigh opposite to the gagging hand.I used this method to effectively scale the teeth of a blue heeler who’s never been trained to have her inner mouth manipulated. You can, too.

This teeth gadget is terrible. It’s too hard and bulky and gagged my dog enough to vomit. It’s not as easy as it looks and it slips out easily even when you’re trying to hold it in while you brush your dog’s teeth. I don’t recommend this product.,

My corgi normally lets me brush her teeth. Thought this would enable me to get the back teeth. It didn’t sadly. I feel like the flat end of mechanism that goes in the mouth is way too big. It needs to be a bit more curved to match the inside of a dogs mouth. Maybe if this was used for a Lab, it’d be perfect but not for my 35lb doggy.

Let's be honest, not ever dog loves getting their teeth brushed, but it must be done to keep our fur friends healthy. This simple rubber stopper is a freaking life saver. No more bitten fingers & no more iron shut jaws. I have a lab and border collie for reference. My lab doesn't like brushing, but he tolerates it. My collier will fight you like an alligator. You put this ring on your finger, I find middle finger works best, and hold their nose, then brush. It allows you to see clearly what you're doing and brush all their teeth without them constantly pulling away to close their mouth.

We use it every day when brushing our sheepadoodle's teeth. She'd never hold her mouth open otherwise.
