My viola teacher recommended this product and it works great. Unfortunately I only took a picture after and not before I cleaned my viola, but before I used this rosin remover the rosin was caked on especially between the bridge and the fingerboard. It looked very dull and it seemed like the rosin was a part of the instrument. I hadn't successfully cleaned my viola in about ten years and I was worried it wasn't possible to remove the grime. I had also tried polishing my viola thinking that that might make it look better, which it didn't, and then I found out that polishing over rosin can ingrain the rosin in the varnish so I was scared that using this wouldn't work. It took a long time to clean my viola and I had to do very small sections at a time and had to keep changing what part of the cloth I was using (I used an old t-shirt rag) because it became waxy from the rosin, but by the end my viola was shiny and looked like new. I did use about half the bottle but it was definitely worth it. I also let someone else borrow this rosin remover and they hardly used anything because their instrument was cleaner so I think that for normal maintenance of my instrument this product will last a long time. I also like it a lot better than polish because it cleans and it also leaves the instrument looking shiny like it would if it was polished.

This product is ideal for cleaning and removing the rosin on a bow. It is also very efficient to remove rosin at the foot of a violin bridge. It doesn't damage the varnish, and leaves a beautiful shiny aspect. I highly recommend this product that every musician should have in their instrument cases, as well as bowmakers and violinmakers.
