A rod end bearing, also known as a Heim joint, is a mechanical articulating joint. Such joints are used on the ends of control rods, steering links, tie rods, or anywhere a precision articulating joint is required, and where a clevis end. The advantage is that the ball insert permits the rod or bolt passing through it to be misaligned to a limited degree.
Advantage
Material: The #45 steel rod end body and hardened bearing steel ball joint ensures long service life.
Finish: The spherical surface of the inner ring with chromium plating and the rod body surface with zinc-plated.

Application

Used these with some threaded rod to make a transfer case shift linkage for a 4th gen Cummins. It’s a bit overkill for shift linkage but the holes were already 5/8†and I didn’t want to use bushings. Worked awesome, 4wd shifter is tight and positive now, much better than the factory rubber bushing and pin setup.

Didn't really like the finish. It could be shinier, but I put it on the buffer and polished it to my expectations, which would have been nice if I didn't have to do, but it turned out okay after polishing

Purchased these to make a custom shifter linkage for my Harley TC Bros FWD controls. The heim joints appear to be of nice quality, the nuts included are stainless steel, threads up nicely on the stainless rod with 5/16-24 threads. The bushings I believe are brass and the zerk fitting is a nice touch to lubricate without removing the heim joints!

These worked perfectly for what I needed then for. I have an old tractor that they don't make some parts for. These worked perfectly for building a throttle linkage.
