Your cart is empty. Set of 300 Insect Pins - Sizes 1, 2 and 3, each with their own labeled storage vial. Phusis (means "Nature" in Greek) insect pins are made from high quality stainless steel with a resin head. Stainless steel insect pins are essential for preserving your specimens. Do not use sewing pins for your insect collections!
Phusis insect pins come in sturdy, safe plastic vials (not paper packets or plastic bags). This packaging method keeps your pins organized, prevents lost pins and is efficient for storing your pins.
Each pin is 40mm (just over 1.5 in) in length.
Dimensions for each size of pin:
#00 - 40mm x 0.27mm - very small insects (flies, ants)
#0 - 40mm x 0.29mm - small insects (fireflies, houseflies)
#1 - 40mm x 0.32mm - small insects (spiders, yellow jackets)
#2 - 40mm x 0.38mm - small butterflies and moths
#3 - 40mm x 0.45mm - medium-sized butterflies and moths
#4 - 40mm x 0.56mm - large butterflies and beetles
#5 - 40mm x 0.71mm - large insects, scorpions

I did have one head fall off of a pin so far but to me it's not the end of the world especially since I already work with minutens which don't have plastic heads and I was still able to get the pin back out just fine when I used it. I ordered these especially for the 00 pins for the moths who are too small to use forceps on their wings but too big for minutens, they worked great!

The product showed up early first of all, and next, the pins were all in great condition and were packaged with care. When I opened the pins up the all looked new and there was no rust or suspicious content on them. I already heard these were high end pins so my expectations were high. Glad these met my expectations!

They didn’t send me any #4 pins...I received 2 containers of #3 and 1 container of #5. Other than that no complaints.
