I purchased these awls for my husband, an avid winter outdoorsman. They seem well made, and of good quality. I almost knocked the rating down one star, as they are a bit pricey -- it seems a rather steep premium to pay for the ability to float (which the cheaper ones don't). On the other hand, they are made in the USA, and I am willing to pay the premium for my neighbors to have jobs.

These picks are a MUST for skating on wild ice. Thankfully I have never had to use them, but they hang easily around your neck and are always in place in case you fall through. It's hard to put a price on safety and these fit the bill perfectly. I bought extras in case I skate with friends who don't have them.

Feel more comfortable walking on ice with these retractable ice picks in your pocket. Light weight, compact to fit in pockets, and a just in case tool to have on hand. I would recommend anyone going out to ice fish to have these picks.

These spikes look well made. They feel very sturdy.I haven't tried them and I hope I never need to.

I keep them handy while ice fishing, just in case. Have tried them “for practiceâ€, and they worked just like they’re supposed to.

First time wearing them, I noticed the piece of plastic that retains the spring loaded cover popped off and fell on the ground, along with the cover and spring. Very low quality, returning and buying a different brand.
