I purchased this fountain to increase my cat's water consumption because he was battling bladder stones. Unfortunately, he has since passed away at the vet hospital due to the stress of being sick with them for so long.In the time I had introduced him to the fountain, he did happily drink from it with no problems. I noticed that he sat and drank for a much longer period of time than compared to his other bowls. Vet said his urine was very diluted, as opposed to his normal. I believe this fountain had a part in that. He still chose his old bowl every now and then, but he had probably only been around this fountain for a week.I needed a stainless steel fountain because he had chin acne from plastic dishes in the past. Originally, I went to Petco in search of a fountain - this is the very same fountain I laid eyes on, but was half the price on Amazon.As far as the noise goes, it is very quiet. It has a low hum - every now and then it would get a little louder, but that seemed to be solved by filling it with more water so the metal top and bottom do not vibrate as much. I'd guess it'd be quieter overall if it wasn't metal. Our fridge and air conditioner are still much louder than this fountain, if that gives some perspective. The design if very beautiful too - I had many people compliment me on this fountain.This fountain provides about 3 places for the cat to drink from - the large basin, the ramp, and the part where the water bubbles up. My cat wasn't picky and seemed to enjoy drinking from it in all of these places. It's also easy to take apart and clean, but is also dish-washer safe if you'd rather skip doing it by hand. I never felt that there were any hard to reach areas when I cleaned it. Took just a minute or so to reassemble. The filters are prime eligible and also half the price of what my Petco had them for, as well.My only complaint is that I don't think the instruction booklet was detailed enough. But there are plenty of videos and other media online to help you set up, clean, or troubleshoot the fountain. You can also find a PDF of the instruction booklet if you lose yours. This is my first pet fountain, so I cannot compare it to other fountains. My friend that has used fountains for years told me that she was jealous that I had this fountain and that she felt it was of good quality. I'd recommend it.

Let's start with this: I have five dogs and one cat and lots of water dishes scattered about. Over time, I've learned that they prefer certain bowls and tend to bypass others. The paws-down winner in this small popularity contest is not the stainless steel fountain, but rather the PetSafe Water Station (also available on Amazon). They all gravitate toward that reservoir. Nevertheless, I thought I'd try the stainless steel fountain to replace one of the ceramic dishes they don't care for. I reasoned that the stainless steel, coupled with the running water, might well keep the water fresher and cooler. Indeed, one of my dogs loves it. Another one is actually frightened by it. The motor makes a constant (not loud) sound as it's running. You don't actually hear the sound of running water, but rather a mechanical humming sound -- that may not be what you'd enjoy hearing as a background noise. Though it's not all that intrusive, it is audible and some pets may avoid the fountain altogether. The cat is drawn to the running water and seems more interested in the noise than afraid of it. Conclusion: you pet may -- or may not -- want to drink from this item.Secondly, the set-up isn't hard but there is a short video that accompanies the product page. It's worth watching. The critical point is making sure the spout of the pump aligns completely with the openings in the plastic housing and the stainless steel top. It can easily get jostled out of position and then, of course, the water doesnt' come up and out of the top as it should. Charcoal filters come with the unit and fit in the plastic housing next to the pump. I haven't had the unit long enough to need to replace the filter or to clean the pump, but it appears to be an easy operation.Once the apparatus is put together and the unit is plugged into an outlet, it takes a minute or two to start pumping the water. Be a bit patient. Initially, the sound the motor made was very loud indeed -- my dishwasher is quieter than the initial start up noise -- but that did not last long at all, alarming though it was at first. Once the water starts to emerge, the unit quiets down to the low humming sound that I mentioned, above.Over all, I like this product fine. I like the fact that it filters the water. It's easy to keep clean and is attractive. The real question is whether your pets will love it -- or not.Update: A little over 4 months" of use and all the pets have gotten used to the fountain and do seem to prefer it; however, the pump stopped working. This is worth mentioning because I am careful not to leave the pump running overnight or when I am not home. This is for two reasons: 1) I just don't like leaving electrical things running when I'm not at home or when they aren't needed. 2) I quickly found out that in order for the pump to continue working the water level must be at an almost full level. The dogs quickly drink the water level down and the pump runs dry. The basin needs constant replenishment. That's worth considering when making your selection and also, that despite conserving the pump by not running it dry or continuously, it didn't last long. Replacements are easy to order, but it's an added expense.

Très esthétique, d'une forme sobre, elle est surtout d'une facilité incroyable pour le nettoyage, facile à rincer, le remplacement de la cartouche se fait aussi très facilement, elle n'est pas bruyante du tout. Très stable, entièrement démontable, vous pouvez passer le récipient au lave vaisselle. Rien à voir avec les précédentes fontaines que j'avais achetées, toutes en plastique, difficilement démontable, fragiles, et d'un entretien fastidieux, avec brosses, etc.Là, rien de tout cela, en quelques minutes, vous avez une fontaine impeccable, solide (tout est en inox), très fonctionnelle. Je recommande vivement ce produit pour sa qualité, sa solidité et sa fonctionnalité.

aunque hay que tener cuidado con la disposición del cable eléctrico, tiene la gran ventaja de ser metálico y de tener una espacio donde repose el agua en caso de corte eléctrico, para que sirva al menos de bebedero clásico. los filtros son un poco particulares por otro lado, habrá que ver que continuidad tienen.

Just to clarify, only top part is stainless steel. Bottom part (pot) in the model we received was plastic.The other comment is that fountain is splashing a lot if you put the pump on higher speed. Our cats use fountain much more when is higher stream, unfortunately in that case fountain is loud and it splash.

but the only problem is that we need to purchase a transformer to bring the voltage down to 110V

Very impressed with this, it's near silent operation is a huge bonus, it looks like a little piece of art which is an improvement on the ugly plastic one we had previously, it's also much easier to clean as there are only two main parts to it and as it's stainless steel it won't harbour germs either. It comes with a spare pump but it will still last well as the pumps are available from garden centres and pet stores so you certainly wouldn't have to dispose of it like the previous two we've had, would go for this above all the others, the best part is our cat loves it!
