The Piscifun Sword features a mid-arbor design that reduces line memory while also facilitating lightning-quick line pickup-something that is vital when trying to keep up with big fish on blistering runs.

The Sword's enclosed infinitely-adjustable super-smooth disc drag and protects the lightest of tippet, but has the reserve power to stop powerful fish. Mid arbor for fast line pick up, fully machined 6061-T6 aerospace grade aluminum, Cold forged and tempered for superior strength and rigidity, Hard anodized for surface protection and corrosion resistance, Concave arbor for greater strength and capacity, Easy conversion from left to right-retrieve.

Available in three colors: Traditional Black. Classic Gunmetal and Space Gray.

You cannot beat this reel for the money. Nothing even comes close. It’s machined, not cast like most inexpensive reels. It spins smoothly and it’s lightweight. The drag seems good (although at 5 wt and below I wouldn’t know if it was bad) and the gunmetal finish looks great with any rod. Two things to note: The reel doesn’t click or whine when the line is reeled in (although there is a quiet click when pulling against the drag). What could be better: A larger arbor - this is sort of a medium arbor design; one button reel removal (you have to unscrew a cap to remove the reel). But overall this is a fantastic reel and would be great buy at twice the price.

I bought the 9/10 weight fully loaded. For the price it is fantastic, very well built. This item is by far the best reel you can get for the price. Most reels that cost this much are plastic or equally bad material. This reel has a very nice drag on it. Will buy again. 10 out of 10 stars

First let me start by declaring that I have not been bribed by this company to give a good review. I bought the product via Prime and am somewhat alarmed that Amazon is allowing vendors to bend reviews by giving product away for free or at a discount. I don't care that people claim to be giving a "fair and balanced" review, you still have to add an appropriate discount to their cheerleading. For reference, I have about 20 premium, moderate and inexpensive fly reels and bought this one (and a few others from China) out of curiosity. This reel is very well machined, especially when you factor in the cost. I worked in a machine shop a long time ago and have a critical eye for poorly machined metal. The job on this Sword reel (I have the green one) is better than good. I am not convinced that the Sword is hard anodized or that it has a cork disc drag, however, I think the finish will be durable enough and out of the box the drag feels smooth. My 2 caveats with this reel are based on the drag system. The drag adjustment dial is loosely threaded such that it spins easily and quickly goes from light to heavy. I would not want to be on a big steelhead and accidentally bump the dial or lock it down by mistake while adjusting it with a fish on. Secondly, there are no instructions on disassembling the complicated drag system to clean it and it is difficult to figure this out yourself. My experience with two other inexpensive Chinese fly reels is that the drag washers need to be periodically cleaned and lubed since the drag is not fully enclosed like more expensive reels. I occasionally use another one from Piscifun for trout fishing and if I don't clean the drag every few times, it will lock up due to the oxidation on the washers. To say that the Sword drag is as good as reels costing 5 times as much is ridiculous. If you buy a Lamson fly reel for example, you get an almost foolproof drag system that needs zero maintenance and can be counted on to work the same way every time.I also have an Okuma SLV reel that costs a few dollars more than the Sword, but has a better multi-disc drag system that is easy to disassemble and clean and has held up to big saltwater fish without a hiccup. The SLV isn't as pretty and has a little more play in the parts, but is rugged and proven to work under tough conditions. The Piscifun Sword is prettier with tighter tolerances and is cheaper, but with money on the line I'd rather use the Okuma. If you're not angling for fast running fish or are a casual fly fisherman this reel will look good on your rod and will probably do a decent job. If you're a serious fly fisherman I'd look elsewhere.Update: 05.29.16: I've used this 3 times for monster cutthroats (3-13lbs) at Pyramid Lake NV and have come to the conclusion that the drag sucks. It is inconsistent both in startup inertia and also spins with inconsistent tension when the fish runs. None of this caused me to lose any of the big cuts, however, I was using 12lb tippet and cutthroats are not big screamers. I've got this at the bottom of my reel drawer at this point.

I’m very impressed with the quality of this reel. 35 years ago, I learned from an old inshore guide that spending a lot on a fly-reel was a waste of money- it is merely a line holder for the most part. This reel is very well made, functional and inexpensive!

This is quite simply an incredible reel & line for short money. If this reel had one of the BIG fly fishing name brands stamped on the side of it, Fly fishing aficionados all over would be snapping them up in a hurry and wouldn’t complain even at three or four times the price. On top of it being a fantastic reel, it comes already spooled with backing and line that are REALLY quite nice. You would expect some crappy backing and a line that has more memory than your latest Apple device, but it Is a very nice line that performs very well & should also cost much more than it does.I would be shocked if ANYONE bought this reel/line combination at such a great price and weren’t happy with what they got for the money. Is it the reel i would take on a two week fishing trip to Alaska for Big Salmon or to Ontario Canada for trophy Musky..probably not. But for Big Brown & Rainbow Trout close to home that are caught fairly often in the 20/24” range or Big Smallmouth and largemouths, ABSOLUTELY.

First off, the reel feels really solid. Mine had no play at all. It free spins smoothly as well. I purchased the reel before reading all of the bad reviews first. It's dumb, I know, but I needed a cheap fix and this reel fit the bill. The first thing I checked was the reel seat. On mine, the screws went all the way through and weren't stripped; it's solid. The second thing I tested was the drag. I've read that it goes from free spool to 100% drag in three clicks. Not the case for me. The drag is very gradual and smooth. I bought the 5/6wt version for panfish and smaller bass. I wanted to test it out, but the closest water to me was saltwater, so I tied on a chartreuse/white deceiver and made some casts against the grass from the shore. On my third cast, I hooked into a 23-inch or so redfish. With a 6lb leader, I couldn't really muscle it in, so the drag got a good workout. It never seized up or got inconsistent. After about five minutes, I got cut off when the fish went under a dock. I feel 100% confident that this reel will hold up to anything I'll be using it for. Final note: a lot of the bad reviews I've read seem to be from years ago, so maybe they ironed out the kinks by now. I'm a happy customer.

This reel is surprisingly good for the price. Would recommend as a back up reel for a light rod setup

I have been using these reels since 2018 and have 3 with extra spools. The cork friction disc disintegrated in one and I recently contacted Piscifun. They didn't have any spare discs at the time but said they would send me one when they did. Two months later a package arrives with two replacement discs, now made from what seems like a synthetic weaved material... Superb service! The reels themselves have been good performers for me. Easy to take a part and maintain. The drag can slacken off over a days fishing now and again but this is a minor quibble. I use them with the Piscifun fly rod and have had many trout with this setup.

La calidad compite con las marcas premium de entrada. En mi caso me enviaron una talla que no pedí y de inmediato me regresaron mi dinero. La volveré a pedir

Got it in black on sale. Lined it with WF9F. Used it for 3 hours today. Great reel!! It’s light and feels well-built. I wish the drag had a click so you know how tight or lose you’re going, but it’s not a deal breaker. Still did the job better than I had hoped. I was worried about Piscifun but this is a great reel!

On looking the reel looks good. But looks can be deceiving. Out the box it will look great and work perfect but will it last. It does have a light cheap feel to it. Only time will tell. Only just got it. The knob that you unscrew to take the spool off only screws onto a few threads so i dont know how long that will last with use.The main reason im writing this is to make people aware of the line capacity.I chose the biggest 9/10 size and if you want to use this for salmon forget it. I have a skagit 25ft head on with 100ft of mono and the mono takes up very little room. With this i could only manage to get 120m of 30lb line backing onto the reel which isnt enough for bigger fish of any kind. The capacity is the let down with this reel. If it was about 1/2ins broader then no problem but for a size 9/10 i dont know how they expect anyone to get decent line capacity on the reel at that size. Anyone using a 9/10 will most lightly be going for salmon. So this reel wont do for sufficient line. They should have made this size 9/10 a little broader and just add a little to the price. If fishing lower lines, heads ect for trout ect should be no problem. Just cant get a proper capacity of the right line on this reel for bigger fish.Overall it looks a nice reel but time will tell if it lasts. Theres not much to the reel to be honest. 2 Flanges and a centre pin that turns. But i,l see if it lasts with use.
