This is a great scanner -- the scanning software is very competent but I suggest that people download the free scanning software NAPS2 for the most control.Large bed scanners are very important when making copies of very old music and books of maps which are much larger than 8.5x11.The scans are very crisp, the colors scan excellently and b&w scanning gives great black characters.

For use on a Mac, this scanner works just as well with the Apple Image Capture application, or the software that comes (download) with the scanner. Very lightweight, easy to setup and use. Very happy. I scanned in over 160 photos of various sizes without a hitch in a very short time.

I noticed the grey line along the bottom (top in this sample) of my document scans, not terribly bad. So I paused my project after 1000+ pages scanned and looked thru the glass. The light/scan bar support tube interface is scraping off white plastic dust and some is on the top of the light bar. Is this a common problem? I guess I need to return it, hopefully for another without the problem. Is that possible?Otherwise, I love this scanner!!After some time I tried to scan again and the grey line was gone! So I started scanning a HS yearbook. Occasionally stopping, I noticed the line was wider and worse. So I have now returned it and will buy another.
