Do I recommend the BigBlue Portable 25W Solar Panel Charger? Yes, but only if you understand its limitations and have realistic expectations for performance.Pros:- Compact and Portable: At just over $60, this 25W solar panel is surprisingly compact. When folded, it can fit into a large pocket (though I wouldn’t recommend keeping it in your pants as it’s still bulky). Unfolded, it’s easy to hang off anything, even a backpack while hiking, making it convenient for outdoor use.- Durable Coating: The panels feature a unique ETFE coating, which initially made me skeptical, but it works as intended. While this material enhances durability and water resistance, I’m deducting a star due to ETFE being a “forever chemical†similar to PTFE. I wish companies would explore safer alternatives. I guess this also counts as a "con" as well.Performance and Power Output:- Realistic Expectations: The advertised 25W output is a “perfect world†scenario. In practice, you’ll likely achieve closer to 10-12W under typical conditions. Each of the two USB ports offers a max output of 5V/2.4A, but the panel doesn’t support Quick Charge or Fast Charge, which I believe require a stable power source that portable solar panels of this size can’t provide.- Best Use Case: This panel is ideal for charging a power bank during the day while camping or during emergencies. For example, on a sunny day, you could recharge a 10,000mAh battery in about 5-6 hours, assuming occasional clouds and shadows. While you could trickle-charging your phone during the day, it's probably better to use the power bank to charge your devices overnight for a more efficient setup.Testing Results:In my tests, the panel performed as *I* expected. In direct sunlight, it delivered roughly 11W, charging my Galaxy S24 Ultra (starting at 80%) with an estimated 30 minutes to full charge. Keep in mind that this was during winter when the sun’s lower angle reduces panel efficiency due to increased atmospheric interference. I love this foldable 25w solar charging panel from BigBlue because it gives me , and my family, great peace of mind knowing I have a means to charge up my phone if needed.I like to camp and hike. Most of the time, I’m alone. Whether you have a new phone that consumes more power or an older phone that doesn’t have the battery life it did when new, we all need to constantly charge our phones. I always bring a portable power bank whenever I venture outdoors. This solar charger can charge my power bank during the day for me to use at night.I’m very impressed with the surface of the panel and how easily it folds up. It’s only slightly larger than my phone when collapsed. I appreciate that it has an IP68 waterproof rating.I also like the holes on the corners for securing the panel while in use.The panel picks up sunlight at a 45 degree angle or while laying flat on the ground. It has a USB-A and a USB-C output connections.I live in Louisiana and we get severe weather with power outages , especially during Hurricane Season.This would make an excellent gift for anyone that spends time outdoors. It’s a quality product that could save the day if needed.I’m ordering one for my camping buddy. He really liked it when I let him see mine.I give this foldable solar charging panel a big 2 thumbs up for its function and design, the quality of materials and most of all the peace of mind it gives me and those close to me.

This is a very cool-looking and unique solar panel. It doesn't even look like any solar panel I've ever seen. The black, dimpled front material looks identical to the back material. You can't even see the solar cells. I wasn't even sure it would work until I tried it. It appears very durable.Pros:-Cool design-Folds small-Easy to fold and unfold-USB A and USB C ports-LED shows when it's powered-Comes with small carabeaners for hanging-Hanging loops on all four cornersCons:-Claims power output of 12 watts, per port, or 25 watts total (bad math). Actual power production from one port under full sun at 90 degree angle was about 8 watts max (measured by two separate USB-C meters). That's still enough to charge a phone, but not very fast.-Power drops rapidly with any adverse conditions (change in angle, slight obstruction, etc.).

Power Output is only 9 watts from usb C which usb c is normally higher but not high enough from a supposed 25 watt panel. I'd expect at least 11 watts from this setup, but nope, just 9 watts max.There is far too much stress and strain when folded properly. That may create a longevity issues.For 9 watts, this is junk bc of the price point. Unless you absolutely have a reason for the shape and size, then maybe. There are plenty of 10 watt panels out there for way less.

I was looking for a good small portable off the grid charger and ran across this one. It’s very compact and the folded solar panels are held closed by a large wide elastic band. When unfolded this solar array is about 8 small panels that can either be hung up with the included carabiner clips or laid flat on the ground. It comes with a usb c to usb c cable and the output of the array has a usb c and a usb a port. I was able to get a moderately quick charge on my iPhone 15 pro and the output can vary depending on how much sun you have. I was using it during a partly cloudy day when I tested it. This really worked well to charge up a phone and would be a great asset in a backpack during a camping trip or anywhere you are off grid and needing a charge. I highly recommend this solar array.
