I picked this up to work on installing a generator plug for my home. After our extended freeze in Texas I decided it was time to look at something. I still have to finish getting the supplies to install this box, but from what I can tell and looking at others online this is very well made and the price can't be beat. I do like the green light to remind you that there is power at the plug if for some reason you want to disconnect this before turning off your generator.

Pleasantly surprised with the build quality of this, especially at this price point. ETL listed, COPPER CONDUCTOR ONLY. NEMA SS2-50P, which is the standard generator connection for 50 amp connections. Use 6awg for the 50 amp rating, the listing calls for 8, but EVERYWHERE else says 6AWG is required. It has an 8awg for the ground, which is acceptable. It's a metal enclosure with a plastic lid. It's deep...about 3 inches which is great considering the wire size required. 4 holes predrilled so the conduit can come in any side except the top or front. There's a, ground block inside, no other wiring is included. The green light on the front that shows when it has power...either from your panel or from the generator. Honestly, a great generator connection. Very pleased.

I would give the box itself 5 stars. It is metal and well designed with more space for wire connections than other boxes like this I have used. Took off a star due to the actual inlet portion. That part of this is mainly plastic and not spring loaded like other inlets similar to this. There is just a small plastic tab on this that holds it shut when not in use which I could see wearing out with use. I suppose the indicator light might be a nice feature for some to indicate the inlet has power but not something I would consider a must have. At this price point it is a decent generator inlet just not sure about longevity of the cover portion.
