If you only have (or have just ordered) the "trial lens kit" cheap disposable trial frames, throw them away and buy something at least as good as these. The disposable ones are useless and can't be adjusted or used correctly at all. These are usable, but could be better. They're a little on the heavy side, and the nose piece is somewhat uncomfortable. The lenses jerk the frames when they are being inserted or removed, which can be a little uncomfortable for the patient. The temple lengths are adjustable, but require a tiny screwdriver to adjust! (Why not thumbscrews here as elsewhere?) These features are livable, but slightly annoying. The two bigger complaints I have, though, are these:The manufacturing tolerance for for the grooves that the lenses sit in is poor. On my frames, one groove is not as deep as the others, and the lens in this groove is therefore not centered correctly (which could affect the axis adjustment). I plan to correct this with a small Dremmel grinder, but this shouldn't be necessary. The other uncorrectable flaw is that the nosepiece wobbles significantly left and right! This makes using CL lenses to identify and measure pupillary distances very difficult to measure precisely, as you can't be sure that the frames are ever exactly centered on the nose.I believe these are the best trial lens frames available on Amazon, and at their price they're worth considering. However, it might be worth it to search outside Amazon for more expensive, professional-quality frames.
