These rain barrel vents are designed to reduce the open area that water can evaporate from while still allowing water to flow in easily in order fill up your rain barrel from your downspout. The fine mesh has an easy time keeping debris from entering your barrel and prevents mosquitoes from laying eggs and hatching in the water.

wife uses them for irrigation barrels in her raised beds. These are sturdy enough to hold up, and won't bend from light pressure. Have now ordered them three times over a couple years as she adds barrels and beds. Six inches seems a bit small, but with plastic barrels, I'm afraid to go bigger on the holes. for rain they work fine so I really don't have reason to go bigger. I'm sure she'll buy more as she adds more.

We got numerous 50 gallon polyethylene drums and wanted to turn them into rain barrels but did not want a massive hole in the top for debris to fall in and bugs to make a home out of. I traced the outside of the housing and cut out with sawzall and easily installed and they have perfect protection from debris with the tight mesh and metal screen.

I recently made a rain barrell to help water my garden. I used and old barrel cu the top out. I waited for this in the mail and was a bit smaller than I needed . it will require a small hole. about the size of a pie pan or a bit smaller than that . however was very sturdy once installed and has held up once changing barrels... IEnjoy Gardening and this aids in reducing water bill. .... Very happy

I made a rain barrel for wash water if we ever need it. I cut a hole in the top and inserted this screen to filter out any debris, my downspout fills through this...

I use these for my rain "buckets" - a 5 gallon bucket converted to a "rain bucket" - use with the food grade brass water spigots - easier to maneuver than the traditional large barrel! Very easy to connect - I do recommend using caulking around the hole to ensure a water-tight fit.

Great product. I bought 2 and when installing i used a 6 inch hole sall & you couldnt ask for a more perfect fit . Quality was great & shipping was good and fast
