Screws into cork then unscrews from cork. Cork stays in bottle. Total waste of money.....A day after posting this one star review, I finally figured out how to fix my problem. In the hope of helping others (I see many similar complaints) here's what I did:On the inside of the device where the neck of the bottle fits, there is a black plate which can be pushed slightly away from the handle. When in the "pushed in" state, the corkscrew does not rotate when the handle is lifted. This is the key to the solution.So what you do is: 1) insert the wine bottle with the handle in the up (corkscrew retracted) position 2) adjust the corkscrew assembly to sit on top of the bottle using the small lever on the back side to allow the assembly to move up and down 3) secure assembly by closing the small lever 4) pull down on the handle to make the corkscrew spiral into the cork 5) slightly push the neck of the bottle toward the device which will cause the small black plate to move backwards and lock the corkscrew 6) lift the handle and hey presto,, the cork will be extracted from the bottle!!

Got this as a birthday gift. It looks great and has some weight to it and I was so excited. We got my mom a WS one years ago and it works like a charm. This one is a huge disappointment! It should screw in, lock, and then pull out… But it doesn’t. It either spins in and out or it locks in and out. So you’re either screwing it in the cork and then immediately screwing it out, or you’re pushing the cork INTO the bottle. After attempting to open MULTIPLE bottles of wine, with four people troubleshooting it, it still doesn’t work correctly. Total waste of money and by the time I got it for my birthday (in January), I couldn’t return it.

It looks great but does not consistently remove the cork from the bottle. Very disappointing.

Very aesthetically pleasing. We own multiple different RBT products and have loved them. Unfortunately the apparatus that causes the corkscrew to twist/ enter the bottle is no longer functioning after opening only 7 bottles. We have taken it apart and tried reassembling but have not been able to get it fixed. The only way to open a bottle now is to push the cork in… at this point it is just an inoperable piece of wine art…

Looks good and works good. You do have to adjust for bottle size and some times you have to rotate the bottle to get it to pull the cork but I like it. I’d give it a 4.5 but that rounds to 5.

Not a very good quality wine opener. We have had this for 5 months and it is no longer working. Back in the search for a GOOD wine opener!!Is there any key d of warranty?
