The tailgate latch actuator on my 2020 F150 Lariat started to fail intermittently about 6 months ago. I had to press the tailgate release button 3 or 4 times before it would open the latch. The actuator would make noise but wasn’t strong enough to open the latch. The new actuator fit perfectly and was easy for me to install in about 15 minutes. I think someone with average mechanical skills should be able to install this part. The actuator has been working flawlessly for about a week now.

My tailgate works like normal again. Easy to install, took about 10 mins, with a total of 8 bolts to open the access panel and another 2 bolts to replace the part. Anybody could do this job and save a lot of money.

So, i have a Peragon Truck Bed Cover. The HD version where you can only open it if the tailgate is open. Well, it happed to me. I had noticed my tailgate not responding normally when I press to open. Keep in mind, if you have a 2019 F250, there is no key override, its button, remote or driver keypad to open your tail gate. Finally it worked enough to unlock my tail gate. There is way more to this story but for those looking for a review, here it is. Take a sharpie and mark each side of the control rods on the factory yellow clips before you swap the part out. Use this part and it took me all of 4 min to make the swap. That includes removing the power harness from 3 connectors. perfect fit, perfect operation and it sounds so much stronger when you release the tail gate. If yours is making odd noises or sounds weak, spend the 35 bucks or so and get this part. I also bought a second to keep just in case.

I've got a 2017 Ford F150 Lariat with the power tailgate, lately started to become super weak and wouldn't open. This part was a perfect swap and took mere seconds to install. Helpful hint, I was still having a bit of "stickiness" where you'd have to push in gently when you hit the button, or hit the remote button mutilple times. A few sprays of PB Blaster in the latch mechanism took care of that and now it performs flawlessly. Solid cachunk noise and fires with plenty of power. The updated part also has some water protection added which is helpful.

You will need cable ties to hold the clips for the actuator in a place other than that it works fine for the money

Replaced actuator on 2018 f450. Slightly louder than OEM but works perfectly. Mark placement of rods to get correct alignment.

Delivery was next day. Fitted to a 2018 F-150. The old actuator had become tired, sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t. The clips on this replacement unit are a different design than the OEM unit, was difficult to get them to latch. Much stronger and time will tell if it as durable as the 5 1/2 years the OEM provided.
