I was excited to finally afford this fancy kitchen gadget of upscale notice.Drinking wine (for health reasons) as a sophisticated member of society.After two separate units, I ended up just throwing them away.The first one did not release the cork, and I had to dig it out. It still did not function properly after that as it tore up the cork more times than it extracted it. I was also disappointed the unit did not sit on the base properly. After the first couple of day of no charge on it I thought it was defective. After I solved the charging problem I was over joyed and managed to open two bottles before the first one failed an locked up as described above.I used the buy again feature and got another, thinking I was the faulty operator.Wrong answer on that one too. the second one did not even open one bottle. The motor seemed to strain to get into the cork, and when finally seated, you still have to pull up and wiggle the unit. After four times tearing the cork and having to use the manual option, I just threw the second one away.There may be better ones out there. I know the manuals one I have works EVERY time.Better luck on the next design.

Loved the look of this, so I didn’t mind the higher price point. At the time, that is. The sound this makes while in use is rather harsh. I used this a year before reviewing to see durability and so far, so good. My last wine opener was approximately $10 from TJ Maxx and was a much smoother and quiet operation. I wouldn’t buy this again.
