My icemaker developed leakage and filled up my freezer side with icicles. Found a video on YouTube that helped me figure out the part, ordered it, and it is in and working fine for a couple of weeks now.

Purchased this product to replace the original in my Kenmore side by side. Very easy to install. Be patient, it takes some time to make ice. Works like it should. Ice bin is always full.

Works well. Installation is, as should be expected, a chore.Taking out the old unit is a little fiddly. Installing the new is much more so since sticking your head in the freezer and getting a decent view of what you are screwing in is difficult.Plant on an hour of your time. Start by unplugging and removing everything from the freezer, clean out the freezer. That will get it a little warmer in there so your head doesn't freeze. Swap the unit. HINT; You can use your phone's camera to help you see hard to get at screw holes of to verify you are not trying to plug something in upside down.I ended up swapping the faceplate off the original ice maker because it had clearly viewable on and off labels.Makes ice cubes fine. If yours does not, ensure the water filter of your fridge or installed in the incoming water line isn't plugged up.

Item matches and fit perfectly. Took about twenty minutes to swap out the old for the new.

I've had this ice maker for a month, and it hasn't produced a single piece of ice. Do yourself a favor and skip this item.My old in-freezer ice maker broke, so I tried to replace it with this one. Pulled the old unit out of the freezer and put this one in. Seemed to be a pretty simple installation, despite the instructions being useless. I triple checked the wiring harness on the old unit and this one, and they were identical. Finished everything up in about an hour, shut the freezer and waited.I started checking the freezer after about 14 hours; no ice. No big deal, it could take a while for the new ice maker to drop in temperature enough to make ice. Checked the reservoir on the ice maker to see if it had filled with water, and it hadn't. I checked it pretty regularly for the next few hours, still nothing. Went to bed, got up the next morning (roughly 36 hours after installing the thing). Still no ice. Still no water in the reservoir. Ok. Let's give it some more time. Four days later, STILL NOTHING. I removed the unit, re-checked everything, and I didn't see anything that should cause it not to work.I removed the unit entirely and went through it as thoroughly as possible. I even checked the set screw that controls the water level to ensure it wasn't shut off (it wasn't). After having it out of the freezer for a couple of days to complete my inspection, I took the unit back to the freezer and just placed it inside to allow it to cool down complete. It's been in the freezer for over a week, now, so I reconnected the wiring harness and ensured everything else was good to go. It's now been reconnected for two days, and it STILL HASN'T MADE A SINGLE PIECE OF ICE. I'm about to send it back for a refund, because this is absolutely stupid.

I was leery about purchasing this ice maker but am glad I did. Our old ice maker wasn’t producing ice and had been on the fritz for about a month. It fits in my fridge fine. I had to do a few things to get the screws to line up but other than that it works very good. I had a bin full of ice overnight. My struggle was to find the model number of the ice maker that it replaced which is 2198597 and the fridge model it fits which is 106.5653240. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now and nothing has gone wrong with it yet. It still keeps the bin full with ice and hasn’t glitched at all.
