Magnet wire is copper wire with a thin layer of insulation, and is used in a variety of applications including transformers, wound coils, motors, solenoids, and instruments. Raw copper is drawn to meet specific Size requirements based on the National electrical manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA mw-80-c standard for operating temperature (155°c/311°f) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified polyurethane with a polyimide overcoat, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.

I used this wire to rewind the motor from an old electric fan, as the insulation on its windings had completely deteriorated over the last seventy years. It worked perfectly for this purpose - I matched the diameter of the old wire, which was .73mm in diameter on average and had plenty for four coils of 140 windings apiece. At first I tried going down a gauge in order to improve thermal efficiency, but there really wasn't enough space in the stator to wind it appropriately, so I started over with the 21. Though I was very careful, using fiber paper to protect the windings from the edges of the stator, the insulation on the wire seems to be quite good and gave me no issues during the whole process. After completing the windings and soldering them together, I used Super Corona Dope to secure them in place and re-assembled the fan, and it started without any issue at all.So no complaints here, it performed exactly as expected. Would recommend.
