I'm not a review writer, but this product doesn't have a review and needs one. The first reason is the measurements. Here is what the item description lacks: Mounting plate is 4.5 inches long; mounting screw holes are 4mm and 1 inch apart; projection from door is 1.5 inches. It is just shy of the 6 inches that the product description states and 3 inches wide. It comes with 2 screws that screw through the mounting plate. They are wood screws. I have a metal door and plan to get machine screws and washers to screw through the back of my door to the mounting plate. It knocks easily and is practical.On to the product review. This is truly a beautiful piece. it has textured areas and smooth areas. The veining in the leaves makes me think of fall which is perfect for the acorn accents. It is every bit as nice in person as the photo and I prefer it on my yellowish green door to the black backdrop. It's more than I would typically pay for a door knocker. But, the value it adds to the door is substantial. It's not cheap, but it doesn't look like a cheap product at all - it's beautiful.

I purchased this brass door knocker as a replacement piece since we painted the door. It's incredibly sturdy and eye catching as we've received a number of compliments. And for the price...you can't beat it. A number of others I was looking at cost twice as much.One thing to note, screws provided are for mounting onto a wooden door. If you have a metal, hollow core door you'll have to mount with machine screws that will go through the door. I then capped off the back with acorn nuts for a clean finish.Machine Screws (round combo w/nuts) size #6-32 x 3in. Acorn nuts #6-32.

The unit comes with two wood screws- totally inadequate for attaching it to the door. You really need to measure the width of your door and buy brass bolts with nuts to attach it through the door.

I purchased the oak leaf door knocker because of the symbolism of protection for my new home as a lucky charm. The brass is very weighty and the detail casted in this piece is truly artwork by natural design. I would give this as a gift or if someone gave this door knocker to me as a house present I would have thought the gift was bought a high end home boutique, it's so precious.
