I wish all vehicles came installed with something similar to the original LifeHammer installed in them from the factory just so everyone has the safety benefit of this little device with them any time they are in their car. Unfortunately, we don't all get free ResQMes or Lifehammers with the purchase of a new vehicle, however I've been recommending the ResQMe keychain to all of my friends and family members.I thoroughly believe I'm not exaggerating when I say this device has the potential to save your life or the life of another driver or passenger.Consider this short story:You are driving your vehicle and before you realize what's happened your vehicle is now in a body of water (for whatever reason, be it fatigue, texting while driving, etc.) next to the formerly peaceful highway you were driving on. Vehicles sink fast and stay sunk. Your car is beginning to sink, and water's beginning to rise above the top of the vehicle. You can't break any of the windows with your hands or by kicking them. You remember your cousin, who is a police officer, gave you a dinky bright yellow little keychain one Christmas (and/or other annual holiday of your choosing) that you threw on your keyring to make him happy and haven't thought about since. That keychain is the ResQMe. You remember it had a spring loaded window punch, and press it against the glass beside you, which is now thoroughly covered by water. The pane of safety glass shatters. You take a few gulps of air, hold your breath, and dive into the water that's rushing into your vehicle and make it out with only a few cuts and bruises.If you ever had to use this tool it probably wouldn't be quite that poetic, however it does have the potential to get you out of some serious situations. It's useful for any time windows on your vehicle needs to be broken so you can escape. This could, potentially, be after a collision, or like in the example above if you vehicle was submerged in water, or if your vehicle was on fire and you couldn't escape through a door for whatever reason.It also has a seat belt cutter, which is also useful in any situation where you're unable to unlatch the safety belt, be it water, fire, collision, etc.I probably wouldn't recommend the ResQMe for first responders, firefighters, police officers, etc. for on the job use, since you'd want something a little larger and heavy duty. The tools is fairly small, so it may be cumbersome in thick gloves, for example.That being said, from my experiences this tool has been quite tough. I've thrown mine, stepped on it, and sat on it. It shows no indication that it's ready to fail. For the average person, this is something you need. For a first responder, it's an excellent backup.The window punch is self-resetting and appears that it can stand up to numerous uses. The seatbelt cutter also appears that it would hold up after quite a few uses as well.The ResQMe keychain is, for the most part, small enough to keep on your key ring without it causing a problem. It doesn't add significant weight to your keys. You will know that you've put it on your key ring, but perhaps that can serve as a reminder that it's available if you ever need it.The yellow (which is the only color I have experience with) is bright and fairly easy to see. Personally, because this is an emergency tool, I want it to stand out. It comes in other colors as well for those who have different tastes. The colors I recall are, aside from the yellow, green, orange, pink, blue, and black.If you drive, you need to have an escape plan for vehicle emergencies. That could be the original LifeHammer, this wonderful keychain, or another company's product. The ResQMe is the best escape tool I've found in my searching because it fits on a key ring easily, feels sturdy, and has two tools (the seatbelt cutter and window punch). It's fairly compact, and because I always have my keys with me, the ResQMe is always along with me as well.This weird looking key chain is up there with CPR (and a CPR mask) in how essential it is. It's something you pray to never have to use, but you'll feel good knowing you're prepared.Bottom line: Anyone who drives needs one.

On YouTube I saw a dashcam video that was broadcast on television news, showing a man being rescued from a burning car on the side of a Minneapolis freeway. It remains the most dramatic video that I have ever seen, and it still brings tears to my eyes even to think about it. Because of a weird situation, the car doors could not be opened. There were a lot of people who stopped to (try to) help, but nothing was working. The situation was hopeless. Then a Minnesota Department of Transportation (MDOT) employee walked up and hit the bottom-right-hand corner of the driver's window with a Resqme. The window shattered into thousands of small pieces, and the MDOT employee cleared the window frame simply by pushing the broken window in and out of the way. The man, stomach up, got his feet into the window frame, and was helped out of the burning vehicle by about six people, who moved him along and out until he was free of the vehicle and was carried away.After seeing the video I sought out the tool and bought them as standard equipment -- like with jumper cables or an ice scraper -- for every vehicle my family owns. Vans got two of them -- one for the front, and one for the back. In the front they hang down from the rearview mirror, and in the back they are on the left side of a handle on the back of the front passenger seat, so that one will be conveniently located no matter where a person is sitting.

Pros: It works (at least I think). I wanted to make sure it would at least break something, so I tried in on a makeup compact mirror. It busted the glass, so I know it can at least do that. Also, it is very lightweight, so it fits well on my keys.Cons: I highly doubt this is for heavy duty work. If you're someone like a fireman, who is frequently breaking people out of their cars, don't get this. The directions state it can be used "multiple times", which to me sounds like no more than several. If you need something heavy duty, get a non-automatic window hammer. I have one in my car console and those have a bit of weight to them. This tool seems more for those of us who hope we'll never have to use it. Also, the color isn't as bright as it is in the picture. I would like something a little brighter in an emergency situation. Lastly, some grips or non-slip material would have been a nice touch. It's slightly difficult to keep a good grasp on it when you're trying to apply enough pressure to activate the metal punch. I imagine it would be even more difficult if your car would be going under water.I know the cons seem large, but I bought it to escape a car in case of emergency, and I feel that it can perform that task. If my car should ever happen to catch fire or drive into a lake and I can't get out, I think this tool will give me a much better chance than if I was improvising on the fly.

As a first responder, I’ve had to use this once and it worked perfectly! Just place it on the corner of a vehicles window apply pressure. Window was broken without any small glass particles flying in the air! Will 100 percent recommend this product!!

Thankfully I have not had to use it yet but seems sturdy and durable.

TL:DR - It's lightweight. It does what it says. It could easily save your life. Don't press down on the glass breaking component.Warning: the glass breaking mechanism is spring loaded!!! I was overworked and very tired and kept pushing down in the black part and the glass breaker wouldn't come out (luckily, it would have hurt me) so my genius brain pressed it down on a napkin on our table top. Our glass. Table. Top. Which then promptly shattered - but with ease! 110% my fault. But glad to see it works!

Llevarlo en el coche. Os puede salvar la vida o ayudar a salvarla a alguien. Muy recomendable.

Great piece of mind for 10 bucks. You can even rescue someone else. Feels very solid, good quality plastic, no rough edges. Can't wait to try it on some glass.

先日旅行の際、国内空港保安検査を受けた際本品はカッター部分は内向きのため問題はないがガラスを割る突起が凶器と判断され没収か手荷物預になるとのことでした。最近は、国内でもジャケット等も脱いて検査機にかけるなど厳しくなってきているので、キーホルダー代わりで常時携帯している人は注意したほうが良いと思います。＊製品に何の問題もないので星は５にしておきます。

Esta es una herramienta de esas que esperamos no tener que utilizarla nunca y que sin embargo deberíamos llevar todos. El aspecto que da es aparentemente endeble, debido al tipo de plástico utilizado en su carcasa, pero en cambio cumple perfectamente con su función y su utilización es muy sencilla. Yo la llevo en un llavero junto a las llaves del coche y no molesta en absoluto debido a su contenido tamaño y poco peso.Recomendable, puede sacarnos a nosotros o a los demás de una situación crítica.

平成30年7月西日本豪雨災害の被災地に住んでおり、他人事とは思えなくなり、本製品を購入しました。望んでいなくても、自分の意思に関係なく、突然やってくるのが災害や事故です。それは車に乗っているときかもしれません。自分の車に非常用ハンマーを備えている人はいても、会社の車や友人の車に非常用ハンマーが備えられているか確認したことがある人は少ないのではないでしょうか。これなら、家の鍵とかと一緒に持ち歩け、会社の車を運転中に災害に巻き込まれた場合や、友人の車で旅行中に事故に巻き込まれた場合に、車内から避難する一助になります。サイズは小さく、持ち運びの邪魔になりません。ガラスを割る際もポンチ式なので押し当てればOKですし、ベルトカッターも付属しています。幸いにも実際に使用したことはありませんが、お守りとして日々持ち歩いています。
