Product Description

The Ricard Bunnel Violin G2 Outfit is an all-in-one package for new players, young and old. One of our most popular student violins, it is available in all sizes, the Ricard Bunnel G2 is a quality instrument offered at great value. The oil finish is a unique feature usually seen on more expensive violins. Student-level string instruments are typically coated with a thick, glossy lacquer finish that hinders quality tone production. The Ricard Bunnel has an authentic, hand-rubbed oil finish. It not only looks more professional, but remains true to historical, tried-and-true standards of handcrafted violin making. The finish, construction, fittings, and design of the Ricard Bunnel give this instrument a warm and more projective sound than student violins at the same cost category.

All Ricard Bunnel Violin Outfits now come with a complete package of accessories including a high quality shoulder rest, extra strings, and more!

The following product is listed as a clearance instrument due to a slight cosmetic flaw that will not affect the sound or playability in any way.

All final assembly and FREE setup is performed locally in the USA by our professional luthier staff. NO assembly or setup is required with a violin that is ready to tune and play from the moment you open the case.

Professional set up includes:

  • Accurately planed and smoothed fingerboard.
  • Custom-fit bridge is hand-carved, arched, shaped, and notched.
  • Bridge feet are fit to the curvature of the violin.
  • The nut is carved to professional standard measurements.
  • Pegs are fitted and treated for smooth operation.

VIOLIN SIZE CHART

Find your violin size by measuring from base of neck to mid-palm.

Use the sizing chart to choose the correct size from the arm measurement.

Follow these instructions for the most accurate size: First, with arm outstretched to the side, measure the player's arm from the base of neck to mid-palm. Check the size chart below for the right size of violin according to arm length measurement. Always choose the smaller size if the student is in-between sizes. A larger instrument will hinder the student’s ability to play properly. The deciding factor is if the student is able to, or very close to, playing the 4th finger. If they can reach this fingering the violin will be usable.

  1. Extend arm fully to the side and perpendicular to the body.
  2. Measure from the base of the neck to the middle of the palm.
  3. If you are between sizes, size down.

Please use the sizing chart below to assist you.

1/16 14"–15" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/10 15"–16" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/8 16"–18" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/4 18"–20" arm length, usually 4–7 years age
1/2 20"–22" arm length, usually 6–10 years age
3/4 22"–23" arm length, usually 9–11 years age
4/4 23" and up arm length, usually 12 years and up in age

I recently decided to get back into playing strings after almost a decade away from them, and so was looking for a violin to start on. After much searching, I came across this violin and found that it exceeded all others in its price range; after receiving it and playing it for a while, I can confirm that it is just as good (if not better) than advertised. The overall quality is very good, and I have had no problems with it whatsoever to this point. The sound quality is very nice even when played by someone as out of practice as myself. If you are trying to decide between this and another beginner violin, I can tell you with confidence that you won't be disappointed in the G2, and will be surprised you didn't pay more. Some other points of consideration:- Check kennedyviolins.com before, during, or after your order; they have a number of options available when purchasing that you may not be aware of if you've only looked them up on Amazon. These include string upgrades, individual vs built-in fine-tuners, package deals to include tuners, stands, etc.- Just to confirm what everyone else has said, Kennedy Violins are indeed very customer-oriented and will help you with whatever you might need.- As it says in the description, professional set up is indeed included, to the point where they'll tune it and even rosin the bow for you. Humidity levels were very different between them and myself, so the tuning was off, but it was much less work than having to string it myself. In summary, the violin is wonderful for its price, and the seller could not be more helpful. Highly recommended.

The pictures here on Amazon are good, but they don't do this violin justice. Here in the photos, you can't really tell that there's a slight glossiness to the finish. It's really quite lovely and gives this violin an understated elegance. As for the sound, I was quite impressed. I've just barely started learning how to play, and i had been using a Violin-Shaped Object (VSO). It made violin sounds, and I'm so new, I didn't think I would be able to hear a difference in quality of sound between that VSO and this lovely new violin, but I can. And what a difference! This instrument sounds SO much better!Everything is correctly set up, and the violin is well designed (unlike my old VSO), so all my fingers can go in the correct positions to make the correct intonations (unlike my old VSO). Also, it's easier to press on these strings than it was on the old VSO. I'm not sure it it was just because of the poor design of that old lousy instrument or maybe a difference in the strings (this one has much better quality strings).... well, whatever the reason, this one is easier to use, somehow. It shipped quickly, and it was extremely well packaged. It came completely set up, so there was no worry there. The violin didn't need more than a couple twists of the fine-tuners to get it in tune for playing.I had been concerned that the bridge was leaning, but with the excellent help of Heather in customer service, she helped me see for myself that the back of the bridge was perfectly straight, and that it was just the curved nature of the beveled front that was making it look like the bridge was leaning. (My old VSO didn't look like this, so I had been unsure as to whether it was normal.)So, color me quite pleased with my Ricard Bunnel G2. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to start learning to play the violin. And I would recommend Kennedy Violins to anyone looking to purchase a violin, regardless of their level of experience.

After many hours of research, I finally talked my husband into buying this violin for my birthday. After reading all the 5 star reviews I knew I made a great choice. The deciding factor for me was that it was set up before being shipped, so all I would have to do is a little fine tuning. My violin arrived within two days, amazing! I opened the box to find another box, opened that to find violin case in plastic bag and (no kidding) one packing peanut. I take the case out of the plastic bag and I hear a rattle. I unzip the case and was so disappointed when I saw it was the bridge that was rolling around the case. The strings were so loose that two were under the finger board. The tail piece was kinked over to one side. To someone with more experience than me this would be no big deal, but this was my first time to touch a violin. I live in a small town and the closest music shop is about 2 hours away, so I spent the evening watching youtube videos on how to fix this problem, I figured I would have to learn how to do it eventually but not right out of the box. I would guess that this was from the way it was handled during shipment, I do not think they would mail it like that. So, after snapping a string, I THINK I have it somewhat close to being right. I know from watching youtube videos of unboxing Kennedy violins this is not normal, but it was a let down for me. Thankfully it came with backup strings so I don't have to wait for new ones. Other than that, it is very nice. My husband was pleased when he saw it, my kids thought it was "expensive looking". I think that it will make a lovely instrument but because I bought it because of the professional setup, I can't give it 5 stars until I work out all the kinks. I did not contact Kennedy over fed ex's rough handling. After reading others reviews, it wasn't in the ready to play condition I had expected.Update: So I didn't contact Kennedy violins, but Travis contacted me as a general follow up. I informed him of the condition and he is sending me new strings so that I will have my free backup ones that I had used right off the bat. Apparently, Amazon Prime members get their violin shipped from the Amazon warehouse, meaning it's been shipped from Kennedy to Amazon then to you. So it's no mystery why it was all rattled around. The exceptionally great customer service has made me change my review from 3 to 4 stars. If to do over again, I wouldn't use my amazon prime membership on this item so it would ship directly from Kennedy, I wouldn't get free 2day shipping, but it would be handled better.
