I bought a rivnut tool that came with a handful of inserts. They weren't the greatest quality. These are much better. Very sturdy and the price is great for the quantity and quality you get.

I had a project where I was building a drop down lighting panel and wanted a removable panel. I used these to make the attach points. I have a rivet puller that I was able to use on the smaller (8-32) items. But a long bolt and nut are all you need to set the larger ones in place.
