The new Sonicrafter has gone to a toolless blade change so this part and the older model have gone the way of the do-do bird. Still, I have the old Sonicrafter with this screw hold-down and it does work well. If you don't need the absolute speed the toolless change gives you--and really, we're talking about maybe 10-15 seconds longer--the old model still makes sense and works well. Keep in mind that the new model uses a toolless blade change like the old Bosch jig saws, and Bosch quickly got away from that system because of complaints. YMMV or it may be the same.If you have the old model, it makes sense to pay $5 for one of these. If you're in the middle of a project and lose the screw you are, well, screwed. Buy this and put it in the case. It's cheap insurance.

I strongly recommend replacing the OEM screw and collar that comes with the Rockwell Sonicrafter with this part. Out of the box, the Sonicrafter has a fluted head screw with a hex driver which recessed into a collar/washer to attach the blades. After a couple months of use, I stripped the hex key hole in the screw. There is no edge to grab on to with pliers or any other tool. I tried a screw extractor with no success. I had to (very carefully) use an angle grider to cut the collar off so I could use vise grips to get the screw out. I ordered 3 of these replacements although they are a little different than shown in the picture. The advantage of these replacements is, in addition to using an allen wrench to loosen/tighten it, the screw has a 12mm hex head that should the allen wrench strip the hole, you can easily remove it with a 12mm wrench or socket. It also seems more durable than the OEM. I also keep a couple extras in the bag should I lose it or drop it somewhere it can't be retrieved.

My husband needed to replace this screw and wrench that was lost and the screw was stripped. Worked great. It fit and solved the problem.
