About this item

  • Suspension shock mount that supports many large diaphragm RØDE microphones
  • Provides isolation from external physical factors that may cause unwanted rumble and vibrations in the microphone
  • Hinged vertical angle control
  • Built-in Pop Filter
  • Includes a removable pop shield with two axes of adjustment and a telescopic arm for ultimate application versatility

Looking for a shockmount for your Rode condenser mic? You need the Rode SM6 shockmount with integrated pop shield. GearNuts knows how important it is to shockmount your mics - especially large diaphragm condensers. As a class, these mics are extremely sensitive, and will respond to the slightest vibrations. Without a shockmount, subsonic rumbles - as well as blatantly audible disturbances - will be transmitted from the floor and up through the mic stand to your mic. The Rode SM6 shockmount fits Rode K2, NT1-A, NT1-A Matched Pair, NT1000, NT2-A, NT2000, and NTK. It comes complete with a removable pop shield with two axes of adjustment for that perfect placement and protection from plosives.

the shock mount is made of sturdy metal, the pop filter is made with two layers of cloth with an air space between them. The filter support telescopes, you can adjust the length and the angle on each end. All the parts are metal so you can crank down hard on the knobs and not break anything. The elastic is stiff enough there is not much sag in any mounting direction. The microphone attaches to a captive treaded ring nut. The whole thing mounts with either standard American microphone stand threads or the smaller European type threads. I tried kicking the stand with the microphone live and yes it reduces the noise greatly but of course not 100%. I thought the price was a little to high but when you consider you get a quality pop filer that is a no-brainer to mount and adjust and remains "put in place" the price is reasonable. This is NOT a general propose generic shock mount. It is designed for only a few Rode model microphones with threads on the bottom that fit the threaded ring nut.

Used this shock mount with my NT1A, durable and high quality metal build. This thing will last you forever unless you run it over or crush it, I would just be careful moving it around since the points on the mount can be quite sharp.

I work as an Instructional Designer, and occasionally have to narrate E-Learning's or short instructional videos. I have a home office and a corporate office location. Originally I was using my Blue Yeti USB microphone, with the Radius II shock mount attached to the PSA1 Studio Arm. This set up worked great, but it sucked having to move it from office to office. So I decided to get a second set up. After a lot of research for what would best fit my needs, I went for this set up.I now have a Rode NT-USB microphone attached to this SM6 shock Mount, all on the PSA1 Studio arm. I had not read any reviews or questions about the NT-USB Microphone working with this shock mount, but took a risk assuming it would. It does work. What I really like is that the microphone is actually suspended, so it reduces a lot of noise that the microphone pics up.I am not a professional Audio Engineer, and have been learning about all this on my own. However, I am a professional looking for great narration. This product fits my needs. In comparison to the Blue Yeti/Radius II set up I have, this is slightly better. I think a lot of that has to do with this mount being more "free floating" in function. I would highly recommend this product.

As shown I bought this in conjunction with the rode procaster. Works great. Solid build quality and popfilter even works with gusto. Granted you have reassemble it to work the way I have it, but it saves you money and has the pop filter always where you need it. Would be nice if rode included instructions on how to set it up the way I have it. Either way Rode has some good for the money products and I hope they keep it that way.

I really like this shock mount design with integrated pop filter. It beats my previous pop filter, which was mounted on the end of a long flex arm and prone to constant positioning problems. Now that I have upgraded to a Harlan Hogan Porta-Booth Plus, this shock mount is perfect for positioning both mic and pop filter within the acoustically treated mic enclosure. The only downside is this combo shock mount and pop filter is specific to Rode brand mics only. It is not a universal mount, and would not work on my Shure KSM32, for example. For Rode mics, this mount is perfect. For other brands, you may be able to achieve similar results by combining a conventional shock mount with a "WindTech PopGard Pop Filter Windscreen" - also highly recommended and available at Amazon.

Overall, this is a good mount that suffers from being relatively heavy. It's sturdy and holds the mic extremely well; the pop filter has a lot of travel and adjustment. It is, however, quite heavy, so if you're planning to put this on a spring boom arm, then the mic can't also be heavy. For example, an NT1A won't present a problem, but a Procaster will probably be too heavy for a boom. However, if your planned usage is on a stand, this won't be a concern.

There is a list of compatible mics on the Rode website. I wanted to know if it would work with my Rode NT1 which is NOT listed (the NT1A is listed) so I wrote to the Rode Australian website and was told that it fits the versions of the NT1 which have a screw base but NOT the older versions of the NT1 which don't have a screw base.Mine does have a screw base so I ordered the SM6 and, as well as being functional and brilliantly designed, it is a thing of beauty. So much better than the heap of junk I used before (which looked like a tangle of string and didn't like being used at an angle - its black strings falling out of the clips). The SM6 is perfectly happy and robust when angled. Well worth the extra cash. You wouldn't have thought a mic holder could give so much pleasure in use!And no, in case you're wondering, I'm not related to anyone working for Rode and I wasn't given a free sample. I just bought it and liked it. If you want to bring a bit more joy into your life, you should buy one too.Enjoy.

I bought this thinking my MXL microphone would fit, but it does not,I got a new NT-USB microphone from RODEOn the box and in the details it does not mention that model of microphone but it does FIT!If you want a wind shield it might be too tight.I 100% recommend this product if you have a RODE microphone, but if you don't have a rode it will probably not work together due to the thread size on the microphones.
