I got this for emergencies. I live on the 2nd floor of a highrise wish is actually nearly 40 or so feet high. Hopefully, I'll never have to use this, but my confidence is high that this will be a great purchase if I ever need to. I'm pleasantly surprised to the various features that I wasn't expecting of what I thought would be a simple rope ladder. It's actually really tough. I love the non-stick texture on the rungs. Reflective material woven into the rope. Comes with carabiners that enable more configurations to fasten this, either by looping it around something or fastening it so something like a set of anchors, if you take the time to install something like that. It says it's tested to 2000 lbs. I'll take the vendor's word for it. All I know is, if I ever do use it, it'll probably be in one single emergency situation... so it'll be brand new and unused. I'm guessing it'll be plenty durable for me at that point.Overall, super pleased. Comes with a nice storage bag too so you can keep this out of the way somewhere. I give this 5 stars for the peace of mind.

For those with a two-story home, a fire safety ladder is a must. This set will get the process started, but is not "ready to roll" right out of the bag. We had to purchase hooks to anchor the ladder in a family members upstairs window. The caribiners alone will not provide the stability the unit needs, to allow for safe egress down the ladder. I highly recommend ordering the additional "Window Hooks for Fire Escape Ladders" to this unit, and getting all the parts and pieces attached ahead of time, so the unit is ready to roll, should an upstairs escape be necessary. If you simply put this unit under you bed upon arrival, and pull it out for an emergency, your options will be limited. The hooks complete the set. For this reason, I am rating this unit 3-stars for the ladder, but no higher since the options are limited without those window hooks..

I got this fire escape rope ladder for the same reason anyone gets a fire escape rope ladder. That is to have it in case you need it. But to hope that you never do.This ladder is lighter than I expected. It unrolls easily. And with a little effort, you can roll it back up.I like the carry pouch for the ladder. It keeps things neat. The rope comes with two heavy-duty anchors and carabiners. This setup will probably work for putting the ladder in a stationary location.Note. You will need a hammer drill and a solid, not sheetrock, wall to embed the anchors into. But what if you don’t want to be in a permanent location? The rope ladder is portable, as the ad states. The problem is that there are no hooks for the ladder.I want hooks. And I am going to find hooks for this fire escape rope ladder.Because I don’t have hooks for the ladder, testing it is not possible. So, for that reason, I can only give this product four stars. That may change once I get the hooks and check out this ladder. But for the person who is okay with the ladder in a locked position, this ladder may be for you.

This is a very well-made and heavy-duty escape ladder. It was tested to hold up to 2000 pounds which is fantastic. I can't imagine needing to worry about that amount of weight on this ladder. It is easy to use in the event you need to escape from a house with more than one story. The ladder I received works for up to 4 stories, I live in a two-story home but the escape route from the second story will require the ladder the be placed out a window that slopes down the roof and then down to the ground. I tested the ladder and it works perfectly in this situation. I installed strong hooks into the studs so this ladder can be secured tighter. I have a firebox under the window and put this ladder in the box. It is bulky and doesn't make for great bedroom decor but safety first. When the weather gets warmer we are going to practice getting out the window and down to the ground. I also have a safety harness for my 76-year-old husband who isn't as agile as the rest of the household. The grandkids take gymnastics and can't wait to practice using the fire escape ladder. The ladder is heavy but I am in my late 60s and had no problem lifting and putting it out the window. It took me less than a minute to get the ladder down to the ground. My house has a sprinkler system, detectors, and fire extinguishers on both floors but the ladder would be most important to getting everyone to safety. I also put a fire rescue bag in the firebox for the cat. Once in the bag, the cat can be lowered to the ground alongside the ladder. I highly recommend this fire ladder.
