I recently replaced my back door on my home and after the install I never thought to measure the width of the new frame as I thought this would be a standard size on most doors when you purchase pre hung.I had to add a 3/4in filler strip to make the door sit flush with the inside molding so a regular strike plate that comes with a new lock set would not sit properly. My door locking mechanism was hitting my molding before it would hit the strike plate, leaving a mark on the molding with every hit. We have 5 children so this just wouldn't do.This began my search for a larger strike plate and to my surprise all the big box stores do not carry something like this. I found this item on Amazon and took the measurement and it fit perfectly. I will definitely be back to buy again if I ever run into this problem again. Great product that solved a major issue for me.

Perfect fit. Wish I’d installed earlier.Measure carefully- as the old saying goes …2x2x6 walls here on our new house … builder was too lazy and cheap to install proper strike plate and so the trim/jamb got damaged … now problem solved.

I needed a plate for a 6 inch thick wall. The standard plate was just too short. This works but it is a little thinner material than I hoped for. It bends easily.

These are a little thicker than another brand I bought here earlier. Using a micrometer I measured .048” which is 3/64. The other brand is .035” or 2.25/64.
