I cut 20+ different filters in this size open and this is the best mix of quality, performance and value. Media and construction is similar to that of the Amsoil EA011, but this is literally half the price. Both filters are made by Champion labs, but this is USA made and the Amsoil in Mexico. My point is not to trash the Amsoil filter but just to say there are better options and this is one. Nice wire backed synthetic media, silicone ADBV (purple, of course), and a thick baseplate. This is top shelf filter with great efficiency and quality!

Expensive, but you can get 10k miles out of it easy.It has the heftiest metal casing I've ever seen, the spring inside for the bypass valve is thick, the nitrile rubber gasket is thick, it's oversized compared to most oil filters, and it has micro-glass synthetic filtration that's backed with wire mesh so it will hold up for a long time. Basically it's a perfect filter for extended drains.It doesn't filter as efficiently down to the smaller microns (20 or less) compared to the Purolator PureOne oil filter (which uses a micro-glass synthetic/paper combo); but the Royal Purple filter is built better, it will last longer, and it will also flow better than the PureOne.

If you have any synthetic oil these filters will allow you to go longer oil change intervals, as they don't have any paper in their filter. it is synthetic fibers,, and they are very heavy duty. A little more then i want to spend, and I don't prefer their oil, but RP filters are top shelf!! Check out you tube royal purple filter and see how these are made, best filter out there.Update, i just seen a guy who cut his filter open after 14 months and this Royal Purple filter still looked new. You can't get a better filter then this filter for any price. Bring back free shipping or I will buy them locally!

Royal Purple products always seem solid to me. I've used their oil in my Jeep Wrangler for years with no issues, and I used this filter in my Grand Cherokee with no issues. Good products as far as I can tell.

This filter is currently being used as a replacement filter in my 2013 Dodge Charger RT in conjunction with Mobil 1 Extended Performance full synthetic.This is the third filter brand I've tried with my Charger (The first being MOPAR, the second being Mobil 1), and I think it's the best, I liked the Mobil 1 as well but the one I tried might have been defective because there was always a leak at the filter seal (I did not over-tighten). This filter was tightened as much as I had the Mobil 1 filter and it does not leak. I've been very happy with this product and will probably buy again.The only thing I can say was odd is that the inside didn't look as new as other filters. It clearly wasn't used but the metal had a couple areas of oxidization. I feel like that could be because some of the other filters I've seen are painted inside while this Royal Purple is just some sort of anodized metal?Regardless I've got 1,500 miles on this filter and it's been great!

I'm a first time user of RP's filter, so I won't give it a five star rating just yet. However, I assume that if it's as good as their motor oil then it will probably get that missing star added.The main reason I bought this filter is because it was at such a good price with the purchase of a case of RP oil and the K&N filter cleaner kit. It was only a couple of bucks more than if I'd gone to the local auto store and bought a standard filter, so I thought I'd give it a shot.So far, I've been using RP motor oil for a while, and I've been happy with their products.

This filter is an outstanding complement to the Royal Purple oil. Paper filters simply cannot last as long as the glass filament in this product, so if you are using a long-life synthetic oil I recommend either this filter or one from K & N. Filters using paper filaments will break down with extended use and lose a lot of their filtering capability.Think of it this way: The cost of this filter and the Royal Purple oil over the course of 7,500+ miles or a year is actually less than it costs to pay less for fossil oil and paper filters that you would change three to four times per year -- and much better for your vehicle!
