My son made rubbings for cards and had a blast. I bought these rubbing plates along with 3 others (4- for-3 promotion). The plates were lighter and more flexible than I expected but worked great with crayons, color pencils and embossing stylus. They are great for my first graders and cub scouts.

We used these rubbing plates to make flower bouquets for spring. We used some regular rubbing plates to put a vase with a pattern on the bottom of the page, then we rubbed the flowers above. We taped the rubbing plates to the tables with masking tape. We used the flat side of chunky crayons for the rubbing. Overall the artworks were just ok - our fall leaf ones looked way better. Yellow does not show up well at all and dark colors showed up the best. In fact, the best one produced was done in only black. There is also no variation in sizes of the flowers nor are there any leaves so we took out the dogwood rubbing plate from the fall leaves set so we had a leaf and a smaller flower to put in empty spaces. The flower rubbing plates were larger overall than the leaf plates and I think the leaf plates were a better size. Some flowers were too big leaving a lot of empty space between the lines which lead to more unintentional rubbing in those empty spaces. I love iris and was very pleased to have it in the set, but again, where are the leaves? How could I rub a beautiful iris in vase image without any iris leaves? I guess we have to draw the leaves in but that alters the overall aesthetic of the piece.

My students and I love these rubbing plates! The art teacher has borrowed them and says even the older (middle school) students love them.

These are transparent and seem somewhat flimsy. Also, the packaging left a lot to be desired which isn't great since I was planning to give these as a gift.

Not exactly as pictured.... the rubbing plates i got were clear plastic, not the hard plastic you think of when you see the ones in the picture. Im still happy though. Ill buy again. I like them.
