Be aware that there are two Delta-like cartridges-- the pre-2007 is the "short-legged" kind. This is it. The job was easy- just shut down the water to the house, turn on the shower, let it drain out, unscrew the screw on the handle, pull out the sleeve(It's loose), use adjustable wide-mouth pliers wrench to unscrew the big round nut (?) that's keeping the cartridge in place. Then pry out the cartridge (difficult part, especially if the previous installer wasn't using plumber's grease (pure silicon) to lubricate the gaskets and the plastic sides of the cylinder.) Make sure to flush it (turn water on/off), scrape off the the calcium build up inside the housing, flush it again, and then put the new item in (greased up) and just re-assemble. That round nut should push the cylinder all the way in, once you align the > notches. And pull back and turn the plastic peace on the cylinder to dial in your hot-cold levels before you put the screw back in the handle. (Update: started leaking the next day. I pulled out the cylinder, disassembled it (it opens in two with a slight twist), checked the spring-loaded bushings, greased up the metal plate that has slanted holes), greased up the holes in the wall mount, put it back together, and now it doesn't leak! We'll see.)

Great quality replacement. Fits perfectly. The hot water level adjuster works well. No leaks. Well made. I will purchase this valve again for my other shower faucet soon!

This part looked exactly the right size on first glance. However, it came sealed in a clear bag with no instructions. And when I went to install it, it did not quite fit. I almost called a plumber to help me, that’s why I took the photo comparing the old and new. Because I was wondering if I was missing something. Then I read another review that had the same problem, so I went to Home Depot and bought it for $65. This time it came in a box that said delta. I shared a photo of the difference in packaging. And it went right in. I didn’t even add any plumbers grease. I’d say all the hassle of waiting for the part, calling plumbers, and then now needing to return it, was not worth the gamble for me. It looks like it worked for some others, but if it doesn’t go right in or stop the leak, that is why. I did not take a photo before the install of the two new items side by side, but there were some differences visually as well. This item should be clearly described as not made by Delta, but as a Delta knockoff attempt. I don’t think I would have wasted my time if I had realized that because I’m not a professional.

The Delta shower faucet that this cartridge goes into is very poorly designed. The effort required to get the collar off is unbelievable. Then try to get the cartridge out.Whoever designed the Delta faucet this cartridge goes into is incompetent. This cartridge worked great, after getting thru all the roadblocks that Delta puts in the way of replacing it.We also have a Pfister shower faucet and the cartridge for that one is a breeze to replace because it's only held in place with 4 screws. Great job Pfister!Delta and Moen shower faucets are designed to make homeowners poor and plumbers rich. This cartridge works great and saved us a lot of money. If anyone doubts this review, try replacing your Delta cartridge and you'll see what I'm talking about

Read this before purchasing!!! I have a 1400 series delta tub/shower combo, and bought this RP19804 to replace the cartridge. First off, getting the old cartridge out was not easy (probably due to sediment ect in my water). It probably took 2 hours of the 3 hour process. Once out I went to insert this cartridge and it did not fit, I noticed the stubs on the bottom were much shorter than the original that was in there. It’s possible that my rough in (the part that is behind the wall) was replaced with a newer one and a different cartridge. There are 2 cartridges that are possible to use (RP19804 & RP46074). In this case I needed the RP46074. I ended up going to Lowe’s and buying 4 cartridges, delta (1 of each model) & Danco (off brand) 1 of each model. The danco correct model (RP46074) was hard to adjust and leaked. I ended up using the delta RP46074 and it worked perfectly. If I could do it over I would buy one of each model off Amazon for cheaper than delta, and return the one I didn’t use. Once you are in there changing out the cartridge, there’s no turning your water back on until it’s replaced! Also due to corrosion, the set screw on the handle broke while trying to take it off, so I did have to replace the handle as well. Also note, the RP19804 has a white cap and the RP46074 has a grey cap, so if you can get your handle off and look at the cartridge, that would be a good indicator on which model you need. This specific cartridge looks identical to the delta one (unlike the Lowe’s danco one) so I would say if you have the right model, it would work fine. My old cartridge was already out so I couldn’t wait for prime shipping to send me a new one while my water was off, thus forcing me to get one at Lowe’s.

Needed this type of cartridge to install for a friend. The delivery was fast. The install was easygoing without any problems. The cartridge quality was good. The price was excellent compared to the big box stores.

Works but…. Doesn’t seem to allow for slight temperature adjustments. Only extreme adjustments. Maybe mine is defective? Half the cost of an actual Delta cartridge so whatever…
