Still needed to use carpet tape to secure our kiln rug. The rug we have slides and stretches so this is the best pad we have had.

I'm very happy with these rug pads. I have several and they work very well on my wood laminate floor. The rugs are not bunching up and stay in place. I like that they provide a bit of cushion but the rug stays low profile. I'm not tripping on them or snagging my foot on edges. I wanted to make sure that the material used didn't damage my floor or leave a residue. So far I've never seen any marks or material left on the floor from these pads. The pad stays gently adhered to the back of the rug too (almost like a very soft velcro but not damaging the rug fibers). I often roll some of my smaller rugs up to clean the flooring. I've found that these pads stay with the rug and are easy to roll up with the rug or lift up and move. I vacuum the rugs and they don't move or bunch up at all with this pad.

Ordered the 1/16 inch pad with rubber side and felt side. Was very concerned about indoor air quality and wanted a nontoxic product that won’t off-gas. This fits the bill - and was like magic in helping my rug to stop sliding. I read comments about the natural rubber scent and honestly, I can’t smell it at all unless I put my nose right down in it and it’s very mild and not offensive at all. Easy to trim to fit. Lays flat. Keeps my rug solidly in place when nothing else did before. Five stars.

6 months ago I ordered this rug pad, but I didn’t know until I ordered another that originally they sent the wrong pad. At the time I thought it was just color variation because of the recycled content, because the first one doesn’t look like the picture. This new one looks exactly like the picture, and it works well. However, I think the first is 1/8 and still quite thin, but that little bit does make a difference in padding and the 1/8 is still is very low profile. I think in the future I would go with 1/8 minimum. It’s a good value for the money, and it’s hard to beat when I can use prime shipping, but little things like it not being square make me prefer the name brand pads I used in the past. For the back door and laundry room, it’s a great pad. I’d probably upgrade to something else for my living room or for a rug that has a hard time staying in place.

Initially I was disappointed not to find a rug pad the size of my runner (2.5’ X 9.5’), however I do understand from a manufacturing perspective it’s better to offer a size larger to accommodate more sizes. Consequently, I had to cut the pad 6†off the width & length. I’m certain the length I cut isn’t a perfect straight line, the rug covers the pad, so not a problem. The pad itself has a rough side to grip the rug and a rubber side to grip the floor. Thus far the pad has stayed in place, however, the rug somehow moves a bit off the pad after a few days of walking on it. I’m not sure the exact cause of the movement, but it hasn’t been a huge issue. The remnant pieces that were cut off the pad were used on some smaller throw rugs, so my disappointment in having to cut the pad actually turned into a benefit that we’ve been happy with. Hence the 4.5 rating

I have purchased various products through the years to stop rugs from slipping. Some worked better than others, but none were great. This is definitely better than anything I have tried in the past. It worked so well, I am contemplating adding a run to a high traffic area of our home (the mudroom). Nothing has worked or even come close in the past. This worked so well in my kids rooms rugs (and they are animals) that I am feeling pretty confident it will allow us to have a rug in the mudroom to wipe our feet AND STAY IN PLACE. Don't get me wrong, it will move a little in some cases. However, it is leaps ahead of anything else i have tried in the past and only moves slightly (if anything at all) under excessive situations.

If you have dogs, consider going with the superior lock rug if you have hardwood floors. We purchased this for our 5x7 foyer rug and unfortunately the rug simply does not adhere to the pad. I'm annoyed that I have to purchase sticky tape to try and deal with the 2 inch slipping that happens daily when our dog runs to the front door or is playing around. We love this pad company but this rug pad is a disappointment. We love our superior lock pads and had hoped for a low profile solution but we won't be buying this one again. Everything else is great about the pad, I just don't understand why the surface is so slick on a rug pad.

This rug pad is 1/16th" thick and is being used under an indoor/outdoor rug in my home office. I previously had a thin wool rug that I loved in my office, but it became rumpled and misshapen where the rolling office chair was placed. I went without a rug for a while, but could see little blemishes in our relatively new white oak floors. So far so good with a few days in on new rug and rug pad. Having the chair roll without rumpling the rug was key, and a thin rug pad to protect the floor (vs. cushioning for soft feel) was primary goal. So the softness rating didn't really apply. The rug pad was slightly larger than the rug. I didn't measure either rug or pad, but pad was easy to trim with sharp utility scissors. The rubber side was placed (according to directions) onto the floor with the felt gripper side up to hold the rug. I was really looking to have felt vs. rubber directly on the hardwood after trying to learn what was best option, and is what I did in the bedrooms that have the same hardwood floors. If the rubber comes off the pad and sticks to floor I will be VERY disappointed, as the goal is to take care of the hardwood floor.

Holds soft, unstructured carpet over hardwood floor very well.
