Oh - My, my - Now this Is a hose reel. Messing with this is like doing the brakes on my first F250 - after having owned a baby Toyota for ten years. This is well, beefy, made. The outside all looks good - solid - the frame is around 14 gauge steel - it is thicker than 16 gauge anyway. When I said 'beefy,' I was talking more about what I can feel - rather than what I'm looking at. I have another hose reel – on the North side of the 100 dollar neighborhood - that looks a lot like this one. It has worked very well for about a year and half, and I kinda figured that was about as good as they got. Au Contraire - says this big blue beast. The springs are way stronger than my other hose reel - which can be felt at the tug - but is more evident at the retraction action as she skiddadles home. Impressive. The real beauty of this hose reel, though, is that once she has skiddadled back home and that rubber stopper hits the rollers - you can hear that a clutch has engaged and the inside of the reel is still spinning about - while the outside of the reel has stopped. I don't know if other reel systems do that – I don't recall ever using one that did. I have to say it is a pretty cool feature. Drive your neighbors truck into a brick wall – see how long it will last. In my experience things that come to a sudden stop don't last quite as long. I remember reading the marketing for this big blue beast; I was starting to get annoyed at how often they used the phrase, “long lasting hose reel.†I don't recall how many times they said it – they can say it a few more times (now) as far as I'm concerned. I think this one is going to last a long time and is worth that extra nickle.I also wanted to mention, even though this Big Blue has far stronger springs, the clutch action ensures that your air chuck (Or whatever you've got biting the end of your hose) doesn't go whipping around nearly as fast when the hose comes to a dead stop at the end of the road.I dig this Big Blue Beast – I suspect I'll have till I'm out of air.7 Super Novas for The Ruvup Retractable Air Hose Reel ~ Thanks for Reading - Have an Incredible Life! ~Side note: Ever noticed how the Folks selling the Good Stuff always make sure they have their name in the Banner, and their products are branded. Just an observation.

This hose come with good couplers and allows smooth connections to my compressor without leaksIt is a 3/8†hose which is most common for home use (commercial hoses are generally ¾†and hobbyists use a ¼†hose). The adapters are ¼†with a normal flow nozzle, not High flow if you are running “hungry†air toolsI am mounting this to the ceiling but tested it mounted to a worktable first to see if the unit was sturdy enough not to bend or twist when pulling across the workshop at different angles. The 14G metal does not bend or flex during usage and the design of having a mounting arm on each side of the reel stabilizes and smooths the mechanism while pulling or returning hose from the real. My shop is only 48 feet however, I need it outside the workshop for filling various tires and to run my air tools when working on a vehicle so the 75 feet is a great length for me. Many are 50 feet which left me looking for an extension hose. The hose is very flexible and not quite as manageable as a pure rubber hose as this is a rubber and PVC blend however, it is very well priced for a hybrid hose and does not kink or knot when using it. It is also noticeably lighter that a full 100% rubber hose.My workshop ceiling is 12 feet so the adjustable hose stop keeps the hose within reach even when it is fully retractedI don’t know how “smart†the Smart Hose Guide System is, but it works much better that many of the other hose reels I have used over the years and works well. The four “non-snag†rollers work fine so far however, they are small, not ball bearing loaded, and may have to be replaced in a few years depending on your usage. The ratchet mechanism works very well and is loud enough to hear even when you are 40-50’ away from the reel.I don’t have the capability to test the working pressure of 300 PSI but that is well beyond my needs. This is a very nice hose reelGreat product, price competitive.Five stars for me

PROS: Heavy duty mounting with steel wheel and good cog for much more control on ratcheting and stopping where you want it. Long enough for most needs, standard threading with reinforced ends, solid block swivel feed hose mount, also includes heavy duty concrete mounting bolts. Versatile and can be floor, wall or ceiling mounted and you can adjust the roller feed area angles too. CONS: Very heavy so you may want an extra set of hands to install. Doesn't include any fittings or sealing tape, hose is a new material that seems thinner, and slightly easier to kink when not under pressure, also seems to ballon out a bit under pressure (tested at 125 PSI) when unplugged there is a considerable amount of stored residual air output from the feed line similar to a balloon deflating...so unknown if this is normal or if this will cause premature failure overtime? Overall a good heavy duty reel that is a much better reel than plastic based ones or less costly models with poor ratcheting actions, get what you pay for as usual.
