As a retired machine designer I found this the best configuration for use and control. You would really have to work hard to injure yourself with this tool as it is designed very. It does as excellent job cutting clean bisquit slots. Angular scale is part of the machine and not a decal.

I liked this tool because it has a power plug. I also have a battery-powered saw tool that often loses power in a few hours. This tool is useful, but I have to be very careful with it.

Be sure to check it out for alignment to assure the two pieces line up perfectly, that is no offset of the two pieces bein joined. I saw in a review that this wasn't the case. It has been fixed. But I was ready to send it back if the alignment was off. If its off, there's no adjustment to fix. It's a manufacturer error.

After receiving the replacement item, I found that it cut perfectly aligned slots, as shown by the pics. They show two slots cut next to each other and the alignment is perfect. Bothe, using the bottom plate, and the top guide.

I'm pretty disappointed in this tool. I've had a few Ryobi tools though the years, and they've generally been OK. But this is the first time I've bought a tool that simply did not do what it was supposed to do. The first time I used the biscuit cutter, I tried cutting slots in relatively soft wood. It just threw up a cloud of black smoke and obviously burned the wood as it was attempting to cut the slot. It doesn't seem to have enough power or RPMs, or maybe both. Anyway, I returned it today. I'll get a better brand next time.

Easy to use, easy to adjust, I would however advise anyone using to test where their cut will be by testing height, distance, etc with a piece of scrap wood before using.

The box had a lot of tape on it but the product looked new. I tested it on some soft pine and the blade was so dull out of the box it burned the wood in the cut. The depth gauge also needed some serious calibration and adjustment. I thought about returning it but decided to purchase a new quality blade. The new blade made it a joy to use. I will be hesitant to buy Ryobi products in the future.
