This center channel speaker really adds fullness and more clarity to my 3.0 setup, and I personally do not need a sub when using this and two 5.25†bookshelf speakers, but if you want a good rumble then you would want a sub. It looks good, but I will say in light you can kind of see through the front mesh cover, but it doesn’t bother me. The speaker terminals were actually kind of stiff and hard to rotate. Obviously once you get it all hooked up it’s no longer an issue though (but I am taking off 1 star for that). They do not seem to have any foam padding/lining inside, but don’t quote me on that. Overall I'm very impressed by the sound and price (got it on sale), and look forward to what other products this company makes. I might try out their bookshelf speakers 👀.

Great center channel speaker addition to my multi-channel audio setup. Good valve. Nice sound quality. Mainly needed it to carry voice content, so wide frequency response not needed. Main left, right, surround and subwoofer speakers do the heavy lifting.

I used to consider myself an audiophile, but as I’ve aged the fidelity is getting lost on me. When we moved into a new home I no longer had my dedicated hone theatre/music studio. My long standing JBLs just wouldn’t fit any more so I needed a reasonably priced replacement for the center channel. After reading the reviews I decided to give this puppy a shot - and I’ve been very happy with its results. It’s really solid and clean.

I like these. Some would call the design of this speaker is understated, boring even, but it's not terrible. They are your typical MDF speaker boxes with a flat, vinyl black coating. The 3.5 woofers step the look up a bit with carbon fiber. The tweeters are behind a vinyl dome and look nice as well. ONe of my favorite design elements is the magnetic speaker covers-which snap into place with a satisfying 'pop' sound. The MB42X's certainly won't win any design awards, but their understated design will look nice on most desks or speaker stands.One final note about their design, I really like the fact that they accept banana plugs. I'm not a huge fan of the spring-type wire jacks on most cheaper speaker (e.g. the Daytons). I was able to easily fit Aurum double-screw-type banana plugs into these speakers. This touch just makes the speakers seem a little more expensive than they actually are.

Pretty loud. Not much bass if on shelf. Sounds crisp though.
