I knew i was going to need a step drill for tougher materials like stainless and hot rolled steel. I had a job that defeated my yellow Ti coated HSS step drill - so I ordered this M35 Cobalt version and it cut through effortlessly.Some of the steps are shallower than others so for thicker materials you might have to come from both sides, or drill the desired hole size halfway through and clean up with a file or die grinder. Check the thickness of the step at size of your desired hole against the thickness of the material.On the plus side, this allows the step drill to be a shorter length - which in turn allows you to drill a larger hole without cutting through the other side of the tube. So this is a solution that does have a significant advantage if there is something on the other side you don't want to put a hole in.

These look impressive. I have not used on metal yet. I normally use a 1/4 drill bit to start - once you whip the tip every use is frustrating.

Awesome steep bit, I am doing an 1600 amp electrical service and I been using this steep bit since I got it, opening all primary holes for my ko punch, and still using it without stop.Compared with the spencive competition this is a great buy.

Looses edge VERY quickly. Was cutting two holes in soft wood. Bound up in middle of first hole.

I love how it looks. It holds the coating well. Cuts right through metal like butter!!! It doesn't overheat. They just need to correct the color label on the packaging. The multicolor is labeled black and the black is labeled multi ... lol. Great product. I plan on getting the other sizes now!

This drill bit cut through my stainless steel sink like butter. I wasted 15 minutes trying to cut a hole using regular drill bits before I gave up and ordered this. This got the job done in a minute. I also ended up using it to cut through the counter top stone. The counter top is a softer stone so it was not a problem at all. Overall really happy with the quality of this bit.

very good steel quality for the pricedrills thin steel no problem up to 7/8", be careful drilling with it - go slowly, use your drill's ratchet or it will backfire when the drillbit is stuck on large diameters

As a hvac contractor we go through step bits. Always drilling something. These are nice they fit into a ¼†impact driver and maintain a clean cut. Sharpness is very good. Highly recommend.
