I got these two jars because me and my wife have betta fish and we wanted to do some really nice but space efficient fish tanks we were looking for glass mason jars that we could leave the lids off so they could breathe and have it be small enough to fit on a counter but big enough to give them space to swimWe found that it needs mason jars they are made of a thick enough glass that they won't do poorly with retaining water there are no seams so they won't leak and they're easy to clean just wipe out without having to do with the crevices if there's ever gunk in the jarsBetta fish don't tend to be jumpers so they're fine with the lids off a little gravel and a nice size plant in there that's gentle and it made two wonderful aquariums for our betta fish would highly recommend them for other uses but they make wonderful aquariums
