I went through two analog hour meters with moving parts, both failed before ten hours on my riding mower. I bought this meter and have not experienced any problems. It also lights up if you connect the light wire to your headlight wire switch. The connector is secure and will not fall out, the wire pigtails are eight inches long, providing plenty of wire to connect to the existing wires. Three wires total: plus, minus for the meter, and one light wire. This hour meter is excellent and works and will not lock up like an analog hour meter. Buy it.

In less than 25 hours of total run time, it has reset to zero twice and is currently reading 0.4 hours. Useless. Avoid.
