I've been vacuuming and repairing vacuums for over 40 years now. This vacuum is the same design as the original "Eureka" branded model dating back to the 1960's. This particular version is a beefed up mechanical version of the original domestic vacuum of similar design. Forget the "bag-less" nonsense vacuums. They are not worth the hassle of emptying a dusty canister. Who cares about using a bag? A bagged vacuum allows you to simply throw away the old bag and replace it with a new one and you are back to 100% filtration efficiency. This vacuum is a "tank". the motor is heavy-duty providing ample brush agitation and vacuum pull. The "disturbulater" (roller-brush) actually has "bearings" vs. the "bushings" of the cheaper similar models. The bags are also relatively cheap and readily available from many sources (including Amazon). Another awesome feature of this model is the extra-long heavy-duty power cord. I can plug this thing in "upstairs" and still be able to vacuum most of my "downstairs" without having to plug it in again. I highly recommend this product!!!

My prior Sanitaire was 18 years old when it finally quit. This vacuum was purchased as a replacement. It is fantastic! Suction is great and it’s easy to use. Love the length of the cord too.

Or less than one star. Lasted a little over a year. Motor burned out. Used 2 a month for 2 rooms!!!

This vacuum is basic and dependable - does a good job vacuuming carpet - every type I've used it on. I like the long cord and the dependable vacuuming. I've had this one for 1 1/2 years. I had my prior one for 35 years and vacuumed with it at least 4 times each week - all those years it worked great, just needing a new disposable bag when it was full, a new belt every now and then - and I replaced the brushes several times -I highly recommend this vacuum for keeping carpets vacuumed - with few problems.

This Sanitaire Vaccume has so much suction. I wanted one with no attachments. It makes it so easy to go under furniture and I like the 12" width because it will go between dining chair legs. It's so easy to use and the handle lays flat so you can get under furniture.Also liked that you don't have to replace the whole roller brush after with yrs. of use. You can order the brushes and slide them into the roller bar for upkeep after they wear down.The power cord is so long I can plug in and vacuum my 1800 sq feet home and more with only 1 plug in.Just love it! And my husband Agrees.

My first Sanitaire vaccum lasted almost 20 years. It was a bit difficult to sort out all of the options in this company.- This Sanitaire SC888K has the very important zipper bag that allows you to use a filtered DISPOSABLE bag. In fact it has a double zipper with a top connect bag. Much easier than my old vac.- It is not noisy for a vacuum, at 1 decibel above the "quiet" version. I saw complaints about the noise. I can only assume those people have never operated an upright vacuum before.- It was pretty easy to assemble, about 15 minutes.- It has a smaller 12" head, which maneuvers very well around furniture.- It has one of my favorite Sanitaire features with 2 taps on the release the handle drops flat. This is fantastic for reaching under beds.

For many years we had furniture stores, and we always used this brand of vacuum. After 24 years of service to the public, we closed our doors, and unbelievably, we still had our vacuums in excellent working order. If you are looking for a good investment, this is the one you need!

Purchased for my business. Definitely heavy duty with great cord length. Works ok but excessively loud. Cannot use in an occupied office without irritating office workers. Probably should use hearing protection for operator. Wish I had purchased something else.
