I just received this kraut pounder and it appears perfectly well made. I ordered another from a different seller and had to return it as it had a varnish like finish. This was appears and feels like natural wood, but very smooth and perfect. Very happy with this purchase, especially the price. Recommend

I got tired of trying to push my pickles in by hand so I decided to pull the trigger on this. I felt a little silly buying what is, essentially, a shaped stick, but it's truly helped me so much, saved my hands, and made my pickle jars happy because they're full of food. Plus it's nicely sturdy so you can jam it in there and take your bad day out on it.

Works for packing kraut but I recently used it for mashing potatoes part way through cooking before committing to the big wire masher.
