If the leather or other item you want DIY is so thick that the claw on the rivet can not penetrate directly, you can use these awls to make holes first, and then install the rivets to avoid damaging your clothes or shoes.

Glad it came with a couple of auls, otherwise it would have been impossible to get it through leather.

Good studs! The tool helps, and the spikes go through no issue. I feel they're a little short to fold in the back for thicker fabrics, but I really like these. You get plenty, and comes in a zip slide bag to keep them from getting lost everywhere or stabbing you.

As someone who grew up in a family who owned a custom leather shop where we made and repaired quality hand made leather belts, saddle bags, saddles, chaps, and much more, (Simonds Leather), I can say that the tools are cheaply made, BUT for the purposes I needed the awl and studs for (adding to my son's thin vinyl belt for Halloween) it was exactly what I needed! The awl stabs the hole, the studs go in. Simple! Price was right, and did what it should ðŸ‘

Painted them green and put them into my patch and leather vest. The poker tool came in super handy for the laether.

This is probably my favorite set of studs that I have purchased! I started designing clothes and recently bought a ton of different stud sets. This is the only one that included tools ! You get so many in the order for such a cheap price! Plus they are extremely easy to use and stay in place! ( Not like some of the other studs I bought) I highly recommend!!💯💜
