I have used this shovel for a year now as a great camp shovel for the deserts of Utah. Did well, did not break and is pretty small when not in use. I would buy again

I ordered the shovel to try it out before leaving on my backpacking trip. The button stayed down in the hole and it was useless. I returned it, and they sent me a new one. During the trip, on its second use, the button stayed down in the hole again, making the handle useless. Clearly this is a manufacturer defect. After going 0 for 2, I will not try a third time.

Looks well made and functional but I have yet to try it out. Other complained about the buttons being hard to operate, which they are just a bit. But it gives it a nice tight and secure locking mechanism. They will probably loosen up as it gets used more often.

My husband and I love, love, love Sea to Summit products!!- but this particular item could use some improvement and I hope to see that it is improved in the future.Pros- light weight and I love that it collapses. I also love the “idea†of the hidden compartment and it comes with a carrying pouch.Cons- the hidden compartment is VERY difficult for me to get open. I’m actually not sure I’ve ever gotten it open. The shovel would be better if it was pointed and not flat. It doesn’t lock in the closed position and in the open position, It wobbles as you try to dig. The most critical fix would be to make it poi ted and maybe add a serrated edge. I haven’t had to try to dig in hard or stiff ground yet. But I imagine it would be difficult.

Glade they are still available. I needed another one for another backpack. They had to change the name, it was originally called a "I Pood" They work well in the alloy version but the newer plastic ones are not that great.

I guess this thing works as advertised. Was a little hard to get through the top of the soil, but it worked. I like the lightweight of this, normally id just use my knife to dig a hole, but with the weight of this, its negligible, and now i dont have to worry about getting my knife soiled ;) The button to get it to collapse is a little akward to use, at least for me.

Very disappointed in this product. It took forever to arrive. It broke right off the bat. Cheap clips hold the sliding mechanism in place, if you slide to far it cones out from the shovel end and is impossible to put back. Id trust this in very soft dirt but for this AZ soil i live on its useless. Its supposed to fit a toilet paper camp roll in the handle and it cant do that either.

At just 3.5 ounces this pocket trowel rocks. I like the ability to store items in the handle and the way it collapses down into a small package. It's very durable also. Obviously I can't camp without it!

Non metto in dubbio la qualità del prodotto, anche perché non ho avuto modo di testarla, ma seppure sia descritta come composta di alluminio, mi è arrivato un prodotto in plastica

Habe mir das Teil gekauft um irgendwelche "Geschäfte" der Kinder im Wald einbuddeln zu können ;-)Selbst auf hartem Untergrund macht sie nicht schlapp. Sehr solide und Ultrakompakt. Ja und im Griff kommt das Klopapier rein :-) Genial durchdacht.

I like that this holds about a dozen sheets of toilet paper in the handle. It means that you always have some in an emergency.The trowel blade is plastic so not too great on harder ground. But if you pick your spot well (and let’s face it - you should!), then this is the ideal trowel for hiking or wild camping.

The folding button doesn’t go in for the handle to retract.
