We bought this because Consumer Reports has this as the top rated brand of kettle. So I got it.Our home uses this thing about 6-8 times daily. Yes, it gets heavy use. It works like a champ and we fill it to the line and it heats to a boils pretty quickly - about a couple minutes. The kettle is audible when the water is getting ready to boil. Is this kettle noise? Yes and no. Partly it is the water getting ready to boil, partly it is the container with the double walls making the sound louder. Sometimes double walls are quiet, but not when the walls are stainless steel and plastic. No sound proofing qualities there. Is this a deterrent for you? Depends if you need quiet for a kettle. Frankly I like knowing when the water is ready, there is no other sound like a whistle or click to let you know.Looks: It is a gorgeous kettle. I mean stunning. I would buy it for looks in a second.Yes, that stainless steel interior is all that the water touches. For us, it isn't difficult to clean. So I am not having any issues yet.I would buy this kettle because the one it replaced would build up calcium ALL OVER the cracks and places I did not want to clean. This one, not nearly as bad. So far, so good.By the way, this one has a 3 prong plug. For those of you into safety, I would MUCH rather have 3 prongs than 2. This has ground. It is also why it heats water as fast as it does.Hope this review helps.

Last summer I stayed with a friend in Chicago on vacation. Like me, he drinks tea except he used an electric kettle to heat up water. At my home, I was using a standard stainless steel pot on a fire stove to heat water up. However, at times I was so consumed with being on the computer or working on a project or what-have-you that I'd forget the pot was on the stove and te water boils out and burns the pot. After seeing my friend with his (smaller) electric kettle, I decide that once I got back home that I'd look into an electric kettle for myself. That's where this Secura SWK-1701DB (black) electric kettle comes in. As I write this review, I've had this kettle for exactly 6 months now. I believe in sitting with a product or service for several weeks or months of use before writing a review. Things can be honky-dory at first, but over time that can change. So, I chose this kettle because it holds a big amount 1.8 quarts (57.6 ounces) of water for those occasional times where I may have company over at the house to serve people. Otherwise, I use this kettle almost everyday to heat up 2 cups (16 ounces) of water for a big cup of tea. When I first tested this kettle at full capacity (3 times), it took 6 minutes every single time at full capacity to heat the water up to a boil. However, given that I only heat up 2 cups of cool water almost everyday, it takes only 3 minutes to heat the water to a boil and it shuts off like normal.I no longer have to worry about the fireburner on the stove and the water possibly boiling out of the pot if I get distracted. That is a HUGE BIG PLUS of using this kettle! Also, I am able to plug in and use the kettle in my room instead of being in the kitchen, too. So, when the water is ready I always hear the water come to a boil and then a "click" sound when it shuts off and the water is ready (212 degrees fahrenheit). The clear switch has an embedded orange LED light which comes on when you press it to turn the kettle on and the light turns off when the water comes to a boil and is ready. This kettle is very safe and boils water perfectly every time. It does have a safety feature of shutting down if you overfill the kettle with water beyond the safety line that is visibly scored into the stainless steel interior of the kettle. After 6 months of continuous and almost daily use, this kettle is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Took me three kettles to la d at this one finally. This meets my specs:1. Staunless steel interuor with no exposure to plastics (no b/s water level indicator or other exposed plastics meeting boiking water)2. Bottom switch - you see from all angles if the kettle is on (no silly light on the wall which you can only see from one side)3. Double wall- your kids will not get burned by accidentally touching the kettle surface4. Easy lid release button at the tip of the handle - single-hand operation5. Spout deep enough to pour confidently without getting burned - some kettles have narrow spout and you get burned if you try to pour more water than tiny throughput of the spout6. Capacity - 1.7L. Large enough for family needsWell done!Approved.

It doesn't heat water as fast as its counterparts across the pond, but that's not its fault: They have 250 volt juice there, while we have only only120 volts. But it's pretty fast, faster and more convenient than a kettle on our gas stove. It's handsome, easy to use, and pours neatly. It holds heat pretty well, so boiled water left a little while can be returned to a boil quickly. The instructions are clear and understandable.A minor drawback is that the automatic shutoff won't work unless it is holding at least a half liter of water, so for a single cup of hot water we fall back on the microwave. This isn't something to ignore, because if the shutoff fails the kettle can boil dry and burn out its heating element. It also would be nice if the internal level marks were repeated on the other side, visible regardless of the direction of the incident light. If you have a lot of lime or other minerals in your water like we do, pay attention to the cleaning instructions. Cleaning isn't hard, but it must be done once in a while.

No idea how the kettle works because it was supplied with a US plug and US voltage. So won’t work in the UK.

We bought this to replace a two week old glass kettle. (Glass is horrible - it always looks fogged up. Plus it kept on boiling forever! Sorry Hamilton Beach!)Secura puts a tamper resistant label on the box, so we knew we had received a new kettle. Good job for that. In terms of appearance, it is very sharp. I honestly look at it all the time (and we have had it for a month now). The finishing edges of stainless steel under the lid are evenly and nicely done. We have a red kettle, though I think white would be even sharper looking. The stand is a very nice touch. The kettle blends in with it and looks like a complete kettle with a nicely rounded black bottom. Other kettles are uglier because the stand sticks out as a separate piece. It is very useable. No matter how little or how much water goes in, there is a sensor that shuts the kettle off, so you know the water is right at the boiling point. The lid is evenly attached and sturdy. It shuts with quite a thunk but you can press the release button and close the lid slowly at the same time if you don't like the noise.Yes, this kettle really is quite cool to the touch and well insulated. I boiled a full kettle once and it only dropped from 100C to 85C (185F) in half an hour. In terms of boiling noise, it's average. It isn't distracting and never gets really loud, but you can hear it.The stainless steel is clean and still new looking. It has no coatings so nothing to go in the water. Before first use, we just had to fill it twice, boil it twice and empty it twice and then it was ready to use. In my overall opinion, this kettle is quality made and so is a bargain at the price.

I was looking for a kettle that had no plastic inside and when I found this one in dark purple (my favourite colour) I knew I didn’t need to look further. I ordered it and it came in a day. The inside is all metal as described and the plastic purple on the outside is both beautiful and keeps the outside of the kettle from getting too hot and accidentally burning yourself.I filled the kettle but when it reached a boil, it didn’t shut off and kept shaking for a minute. I wasn’t sure if it was defective or not and whether I should return it or exchange it so I contacted the company. They responded within 2 hours and informed me that my kettle was defective and offered multiple return options. Their customer service was top notch and had a resolution in less than a day. I did my exchange and now have my new kettle that works perfectly and makes very little noise. I’m so happy with it but I’m even happier knowing that if anything goes wrong the manufacturer will be helpful and timely in their responses.
