Basil is one of the most popular culinary herbs in Italian cooking. But did you know that there are several varieties available? Each Basil strain in this collection has a different flavor and a different use in cooking. We offer a wide selection from Lime Basil, Sweet Basil, Lemon Basil, Italian Large Leaf Basil, Dark Opal Basil, Holy Basil, Spicy Globe and Thai Basil as well. The plants themselves are annual herbs that usually grow to a mature height of roughly 18 to 24 inches tall. These popular herbs can be sown indoors or directly outdoors and produce edible leaves in just weeks.

Seed packets by Seed Needs are beautifully illustrated and provide a colorful depiction of the variety inside. We provide the common name, as well as the scientific name, seed quantity and a few specs about the variety to be grown.
Back Side
Each packet contains full growing instructions on the reverse side. Specifications on sowing the seed, growing conditions such as sunlight and moisture preferences and germination and growth information can be found as well.
We also provide a QR to scan for easy reordering.

Sweet Basil (150 Seeds)
Sweet Basil is the most common of the Basil family. It is used in Italian cooking and boasts a strong, pungent, and often sweet smell. The plants will grow to a mature height of roughly 36 inches tall, producing 3 inch, green leaves. Sweet Basil can be harvested in roughly 60 to 90 days.
Lime Basil (150 Seeds)
Lime Basil will boast a Lime like flavoring, adding a flair to fish and salads. The The plants themselves will reach a height of roughly 12 to 20 inches tall, and can spread about 12 to 18 inches wide. Lime Basil is an annual herb, like other Basil herbs, and it can be ready for harvesting in about 60 days.
Dark Opal Basil (150 Seeds)
Dark Opal Basil will display burgundy colored leaves, with red colored flowers. Each plant will grow to a mature height of anywhere between 12 to 18 inches tall. The leaves will grow to roughly 1.5 to 3 inches in length, and can be harvested in about 80 days from initial growth.
Thai Basil (150 Seeds)
Thai Basil is both attractive and extremely fragrant, offering a sweet, Anise-like scent. The plants themselves will reach a mature height of 12 to 18 inches tall, displaying dark green to red leaves. The flowers sprout atop it's foliage, and are deep burgundy in color. Ready for harvest in about 80 days.
Lemon Basil (150 Seeds)
Lemon Basil is a delicious culinary herb, used in all sorts of dishes in the kitchen. It's lemony flavor, adds an extra something to meals, not to mention it smells great in the garden as well. The plants themselves will reach a mature height of roughly 30 inches tall, and can spread about 12 to 18 inches wide.
Italian Basil (150 Seeds)
Italian Large Leaf is a delicious variety of Basil, which produces large, green leaves. The leaves are about the size of your palm, and are loaded with flavor and fragrance as well. The plants of Italian Large Leaf Basil will grow to a mature height of roughly 12 to 24 inches tall, and can spread 12 to 15 inches wide.
Spicy Globe Basil (150 Seeds)
Spicy Globe is a bushy variety of Basil, which grows to a mature width, and height of only 6 to 12 inches tall. Their compact growth habit makes them perfect for window boxes, large pots & containers, or raised beds as well. The leaves of Spicy Globe are small and slender and add a flair to many culinary dishes.
Holy Basil (150 Seeds)
This variety of Basil is sacred to the Hindu people. Holy Basil, or "Tulsi" will produce green leaved plants that grow anywhere between 18 and 20 inches tall. The plants can range in width, spanning 8 to 12 inches wide. Often consumed in teas, Holy Basil has been proven to improve immune health overall.

I can't really assess all the qualities of the potential future mature plants, as I have only had this set of seeds for less than a month, but then again, with gardening there are so many factors that influence the final product. It's fair to judge seeds as good if they germinate and arrive well packaged and undamaged. I have put little areas of the various basil varieties in a few planters. They seem to all germinate well (but do expect that because these are different strains of basil some will grow faster than others). The seedlings look good. The seeds appear to be basil seeds (I usually grow a lot of basil and these look like they should). They are really well packaged too! The seed collection came wrapped in a sealed envelope. Each variety of seed is in its own designated sleeve--colorfully printed, the same paper sleeve as the usual seeds you can buy at any retailers, but with one notable difference: the top flap is gummed and resealable! The gummed sleeve is very convenient and makes these seeds easy to reseal if you don't sow them all at once. Lastly, these are a good value for the price. If you bought a single mature plant of any of the varieties here, you might pay on average $6 per plant where I live. So, while I do buy some larger basil plants from a greenhouse, I also like to grow my own from seed. It is truly a very very versatile plant. I would recommend this brand and seller. I will probably buy more of their seeds next year after having a good experience with this set of seeds.

I never even knew basil came in so many varieties, great germination rate and my young upcoming plants look wonderful. Not all of them sprouted but I would say 75% have flourished from seedlings. I've transplanted them into four inch pots and will slowly acclimate them to the great outdoors as I feel within a few weeks they will be ready. There are five types I haven't even had a chance to plant yet! I have the lime, Italian large leaf and opal going strong, but I am excited to try the others as well.

All of the seeds I planted from this have turned into healthy and hardy plants. The basil taste exactly as it should and the lemon basil is honestly amazing. I got the pack just for that and it was well worth it. Plus I have seeds left over to plant next year.

I love the variety of basil seeds. Some of them have grown well, others not so much. There are many seeds for each variety. Since I have a small garden, they last for a long time. I would recommend it if you use a lot of basil.

I planted all the varieties and everything grew very well! Great value for 8 different basils! I was pleasantly surprised by the lemon and lime varieties actually smelling lemony and limey. Thai has an excellent flavor 10/10!

Besides the fact almost every seed germinated these are absolutely a great because of the artwork and color! The instructions are super clear too for new gardeners like myself! Functionally they fit perfect in my binder too
