About this item

  • Zesty Chives - Add some flavor to your baked potatoes, salads, and more with grass-like herbs. Their mild onion and garlic flavors pair well with lemon, fish, vegetables, soups, salads, and meat. The flowers of both common and garlic chives are edible and add a beautiful touch your dishes.
  • Hardy Perennials - Garlic and common chives are both easy to grow small perennial herbs, producing mounds of plants. The garlic chives plant produces flat leaves with white blooms, while common chives have rounder leaves with purple blooms. Both will attract pollinators like bees and butterflies to the garden.
  • Sustainable Living - Planting your own herbs and vegetables is essential for a more self-sufficient and natural lifestyle. Both of these perennial herbs can be grown in pots in container gardens, outdoors, or indoors if given plenty of light. Ideal for growing in pots and indoor overwintering.
  • The Info You Need to Grow - The seeds are packed in a beautiful paper packet with instructions for successful growing and germination in your home garden. Each package also includes directions for saving seeds after harvest, making it simple for both beginner and experienced gardeners to get started with these Chive seeds heirloom.
  • Small American Family-Owned Business - We’re dedicated to providing fresh, high-quality Chive seeds for planting now or storing for future seasons. We sell only safe, non-hybrid, non-GMO heirloom seeds that are open-pollinated, untreated, and tested for optimal germination rates, remaining viable for years if stored in a cool, dry location.

They germinate. My cats love them! In fact, try to let these grow a little before you give your cats access (same for oat grass. They hone in on these for sure.)

Two failed sprouts for Chives. 10% success with Garlic Chives. Need to try a different source.

The packet says germination takes 7-10 days but for me it took two weeks (which isn't hugely longer, so I won't put that against them. So far, not all of them have germinated. I maybe a dozen seeds and only four have sprouted. Hopefully more come later.Edit: so my garlic chives sprouted and have been growing really well. My onion chives died, but now that it's cooler I want to try again.

I bought them late in th e season so I have not planted them yet. Stored in the fridge to plant next spring.I like these plants because they double as flowers and edibles

We planted these two inside and eventually moved them outside! I can’t wait to see how they do next year!

Growing hydroponic and every single seed has germinated and is growing nicely. Have to wait a bit longer to let you know how they taste.
