Sennelier La Carte Pastel Pads are absolutely the best surface I've found for doing pastels, they allow more overworking and hold up better than any other surface I've worked on. Their only drawback is that you do not want to get water on them, it will melt the cork. However I have been able to repair problems without any difficulty.

Thick but would not recommend as it is very rough unless you like it like sandpaper. Not good for "pastel pencil" as it eats it up and I would not use it for anything with detail work in it. I like more than anything Colourfix by Art Spectrum for Graphite and Pastel. They have a suede that is to die for and a fine tooth that I think is much better as you can do anything with it from rough or abstract to fine detail and realistic works. Much, much better than this stuff AND this is WAAAAAAAAY overpriced.Art Spectrum Colourfix Fine Tooth Pastel Paper Suede PaperBetter than anything else out there as far as textured paper goes.I also use Vellum Bristol and plate depending on what I am doing, botanicals versus animals or portraits or whatever. Sometimes you need tooth and sometimes you do not not. Strathmore 500 series is also an excellent paper and worth the money.

Absolument ideal pour faire du petit travail en pastel. Meme pour ceux qui n'ont pas beaucoup d'expérience

I love using this for pastels it takes loads and loads of layers, however if it gets at all wet, the surface falls off. Hence only four stars.
