This pickup gives off almost perfect sound. It picks up only the sounds of the strings, and not too much tapping. An easy replacement if you can't afford a guitar with an internal pickup or need your IP repaired.Pros:- Long cable- No buzzing when gain is low- Sturdy- Fits in most Dreadnought guitars- Works well in Audio InterfacesCons:- Buzzing is bad when close to output device (maintain a minimum of ten feet away if you've got to turn the gain up)- Thin cable, should be thicker on at least one end- Can't fit into smaller sized sound holes, so pay attention to the dimensions- Lacks an EQ barOverall, it's a great pickup at a good price. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a temporary or even permanent solution to pickup problems.

for a little more money. Bought the HDE® Guitar Pickup Acoustic / Electric Transducer along with a Fender Champion 20 amp. The HDE worked, but really gave the B and E strings a much louder pickup than the others. I went on you tube to check out some other options and saw some reviews on the Seymour Duncan Woody single coil pickup. It seemed to have a much better overall sound than the HDE so I ordered one and I think there is a big difference and well worth the extra $15.00. It has more of an amplified acoustic overall sound and the B string is a lot softer than the HDE. The 14 foot cord is beefy and it has a quality 1/4 inch plug. There were some comments that you need an amp bigger than 20 watts to make this work. NOT TRUE! My vol is set to a 7 out of 10 on the vol and 4 out of 10 on the gain and works just fine on my practice amp. (I do not play in a band, just bang my strings at home) I am very happy with this combination with out having to buy and electric guitar at least for now. I have a Yamaha LL6 acoustic guitar and with this pickup I have have the best of both worlds. If you want perfection than go to you-tube and see the reviews of the ones that cost a few hundred dollars. Enjoy!(Thought about returning the HDE, but for the money I will just keep it for the different sound it produces)

I'm not the primary user, since this was a "just because" gift for my wife. She loved this, and when she's happy I'm happy. It's a small wooden pickup that fits into the guitar's sound hole. The finish is nice and glossy. The cable is long and more than enough. Installation and removal is a snap. Notes and chords sound more organic. That is, it retains the sound of an acoustic guitar without the "twangy" characteristic of an electric guitar. It comes in a canvas bag with a pull-string thingie to close it, which is a plus. The unit is stored in the bag when not in use.Your performance will vary depending on your setup and equipment. Got a Behringer Xenyx 802 for a studio recording setup with a digital audio workstation and a cheap-o amp. However, we did perform live for a huge birthday bash. Got this unit hooked up to a professional audio system. Though, unfortunately the acoustics of the hallroom where we performed was terrible. Not the unit's fault, or the audio setup. However, it still sounded great.Owned this since April 2011 and it hasn't disappointed. A solid buy for the price, though wishing it could do something more. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Good luck with yours!

This is the best pick of 3 test. One $10.99 that was junk. The 2nd was a $34.99 pickup. The sound was ok but the cable was bad. Had to buy a quality cable to test the sound. This one is 2x as much and it’s probably multiple time better. Great pickup, warm sound, especially on the bass string. Very nice. Worth paying a little more for a quality pickup. Only thing would be nicer with a volume control.

Humming noise is louder than actual audio output!!!! JUNK!Yes even though the pickup is solid and came in a nice bag blah blah blah...its truly sucks! I have a 300 W Randall amp head that blows the neighbors away at volume level 0.5, with this pickup I had to almost MAX the volume to get any sound to come out! I am sorry but pickups are not supposed to hum that loud PERIOD. I even tried using it in my DAW program and it was impossible to record since my interface could not even turn up high enough to even hear the guitar, yet alone getting rid of the ridiculous humming noise. I am one of those people who look at the large percentage of positive reviews on an amazon product but had I read the 1 star reviews I would have known about this issue. So anyone buying products especially music related items...BE SURE TO READ THE LOWEST REVIEWS FIRST, then decide if it is right for you.

I bought this for my 1974 Martin D-18 for recording on my PC. So far it is working great. I have a Behringer 802 mixer already and I just plugged the guitar into that. It works perfectly. This guitar is very loud without a pickup, but to get the sound into my PC for recording I either needed to use a mike or a pickup. I chose the pickup. I got too much background noise with the mike.Update: I started to get a loud buzz in my sound system and scratched my head a bit trying to figure it out. I had played my guitar about an hour before without that "buzz" being a problem. I discovered that if I turn the guitar a certain way the buzz went away. Then I remembered that the only thing I was doing differently was that I had turned on another overhead light since it was dark outside. I turned that light off and the buzz went away. My pickup was picking up interference from the new type florescent bulbs in the light. I'm glad there is nothing really wrong with the pickup. ;)After using the pickup for awhile I have noticed that the 5th and 6th strings aren't as loud as I would expect; also the 2nd string is louder than all of the strings. I'm not sure why. It's not a big deal.

I have a much cherished acoustic old epiphone guitar that I wanted to amplify without messing it up with tape or drilling holes in it! After much thought and not a little research I bought this little beauty. It slots into the sound hole and grips into place easily. The tone is warm and rich whether played through a regular or an acoustic amp. This is an excellent low cost way to solve my amplification issues and gives me the sound I wanted. Thank you guys, at seymour duncan you did it again.

This pickup performs very well. It gives fantastic tones and it is very easy to discover many varied tones at the amplifier you plug into. Being able to change tone in the middle of a song rarely is necessary when using an acoustic guitar IMHO. If you need that, this is not the pickup for you. This pickup is very valuable to us in the studio and on the stage. Very versatile tones by manipulating your amplifier.
