The shape of the head and shaft of the handle are cut well. It slid into the metal head of my drilling hammer without any problems. It came with the wedges to expand the shaft for a firm seat. It was so easy to swap out that my non mechanically inclined 16 year old son was able to change handles without any instructions.ProsGood fitcomes with metal and wood wedgesSturdy handleRough finish for a good grip.It completely met my needsConsIf you want a silky smooth handle, this isn't for you, unless you are willing to sand it with fine grit sandpaper.The shaft is geared more towards round holes rather than ovals. The wedges still allow for a tight fit.

Its basic. Nothing fancy. Did not fit my mini sledge. Needed to manipulate it for 20 minutes on the belt sander to even get it close and even then the fit was sloppy. Too much thickness in one direction but not enough in the other. I think it will function but its not a precision fit.

The length of this handle is short but works well for me. Follow the directions with the linseed oil. The handle went into the head tightly. I have a good blacksmith hammer now.

This s just what I needed however, i had to do a lot to fit the hammer head onto it, although the ad said it was correct for my need.
