Needed a raw water intake for my inboard boat and did not want to spend $300 + on a Perko metal and glass strainer. I made sure i mounted the top of the elbows two inches above the waterline in case I need to empty the filter with the seacock open. Make sure you use plastic straight or 90 deg elbows to thread into the unit with plumbers tape. I had to create my own bracket and just zip tie it to the filter as the one they sell would not work with where I mounted it. Overall I hope to get at least a decade out of this one.

Very unsatisfied with the product. Once I removed my old strainer and installed the new Sherwood, hooked up the water and started the boat the damn thing leaked from the plumbing threads even with Teflon tape and Recto Seal; two hours wasted. Not too impressed with the quality. I should have never purchased a plastic strainer.

Shame they done sell just the bowl. Works great and you can visually see water flow.

Read the description CAREFULLY. Mine too did not come with the mounting bracket. The picture implies that the filter comes with a mounting bracket (That's why I paid more!). However, the description at the bottom says the mounting bracket is optional. I noticed this after calling the supplier who said the bracket was optional.Other than that the filter is fine.
