The MX-1 is a low cost, no frills shoe.Looks: Not so much. These shoes look like a cross between bedroom slippers and gardening clogs. Style is not the strong suit. That said, they're great for beginners, casual cyclists on a budget, and for those with wider feet.Sizing: I wear a 12.5 US, and typically al 46 or 47 in European shoes. When I measured my feet with a Sidi sizing tool at the local bike shop, my toes landed between the 46 and 47 mark, my instep between 45 and 46 as shown. Width is between E and EE, slightly wider than "normal". Selecting a 12.5 men's in the MX-1 brought a shoe marked as 48 European. The is pretty close to perfect for my feet. Toes have just a tiny bit of space, heel is not loose, and my instep is snug but not pinched. I've only done about 50Km in them so far, and they've been comfortable. The only exception is that I have thick, tall toes and my big toenails are pushed down a bit. I don't think the plastic front will stretch much, so this may be a problem.Potential drawbacks: Serious cyclists might not like all the elastic on top, and probably will be disappointed by the lack of "tuneability" in the single Y strap. Those who ride in weather will get wet socks from the elastic cloth and perforations.Summary: I bought these as a backup to my old trusted Sidis, and for the money I think they're just fine.

Good enough, comfortable and work well with cleats. I just wish they made a wide option in sizes. I normally wear a wide for road shoes, went up half a size on this one to make sure I could fit in these since they are not wide.

I have purchased many shimano products over my lifetime. From fishing reels to bicycle parts, and they all seem to hold up very well.

These are cheap, they're built cheap, they feel cheap, and they look cheap.Additionally, putting your foot in the shoe is quite a chore. You have to make sure the neoprene skirt at the top of the shoe where your foot goes in is perfectly flat; otherwise, you'll wind up with a sore foot. You're not just going to throw them on and jump on your bike; they require some effort to "install" them on your foot. That said, once I wrestled them on, they fit okay because I ordered them a size up, meaning a size larger than I usually wear.I think they'll work okay as commuting shoes, but I don't think I want to wear them for more than a couple of hours due to the stiff feel and lack of padding.I paid $69.15 for mine; truthfully, it was a bit of a stretch.UPDATE 5/6/24: these did wind up being returned. I decided any money was too much money for these.

I bought size 10.5 instead of my usual 10 per advice here, and the shoes did look narrow but seemed to fit comfortably. Aside from toeclips, this is my first experience with clipless. I ride 4 to 7K miles per year but have alway favored flat pedals. Couple 20 milers, so far so good. Only reservation is the Velcro strap, worried about it loosing its stickiness.

These are the very first clipless mountain bike shoes I've ever got. Still waiting for the pedals and cleats to come, but would like to review the shoes. They came earlier than expected and, are just fantastic. I did get them in my regular shoe size and they are too big for my feet. I would recommend getting 1/2 or a full size smaller. I am however a young rider and I will grow into them. They are built with expected Shimano quality, and the one strap is so easy and fast to use. They feel really comfortable and I love the big rubber parts on the bottom to protect the cleats while walking, and it should also make them work better on flats. Anyways, great pair of shoes. Definitely recommend.

Buona pedalata!
