I had to use my own screws and plugs, because the ones it came with were so skinny that they can’t possibly hold any weight in a dry wall or sheetrock. The holders work great for skis and poles.

This certainly is a heavy duty wall rack. Construction is of very thick gauge metal and would be able to hold pairs of old-style 210+ cm skis (very heavy and very long). The plate piece that screws onto the wall comes with wall mounting hardware, including drywall screw components. (However, I choose to use a more sturdy mounting method than to use the supplied drywall anchors and screws.) The plate can be screwed directly into wall studs if they are at 16 inch centers. The finish on the pieces of the rack is coarse and some may choose to apply some cushioning on the rod-shaped brackets to protect the surface finish of their skis. Each of the three brackets fits securely into cutouts/slots on the backing plate. The powder-coat finish is thick and it would likely last a long time to withstand moisture, cracking, or peeling. Each bracket has an upper and lower portion with the upper portion being much longer to be used to hold a pair of skis and poles by the straps. The lower shorter portion can be used to hang goggles, gloves, etc. This wall rack is very sturdy and should last a very, very long time.
