Shoofly Leggins are durable loose-fitting fly boots to protect your horse from painful fly bites and reduce constant stressful stomping which leads to joint irritation, hoof cracks and leg fatigue. Ensure your horse is healthy and comfortable while in the stall or in the pasture. Made of chemical-free, breathable plastic mesh to ensure both durability and breath ability. It does not allow biting flies (deer, horse & horn) to penetrate and eliminates botfly eggs from being laid. The mesh allows air to circulate, especially comfortable for wounds. I bought these to protect my horse's bad leg - messed up stifle. When he'd get up (from laying down), his good leg would scrape up the bad leg. One winter it was so bad the vet had to come by. So we started wrapping his leg. But that has to be redone every day and of course, we had to wash the wraps. Come spring, these ShooFlys popped up and the reviews seemed good. Pricey, but one reviewer got 3 years out of them. So, that spring, we put a pair on his back legs - and he stopped cutting up his leg. The Shoofly didn't wear, either. Come winter - with the snow here in SD, we left just the one on the bad leg, waiting for snow to become an issue (build up inside) and it never did. We kept the Shoofly on all winter, he leg stayed cut free. It's been almost a year and the Shoofly is dirty, but in very good shape. And we still have 3 others! They helped with the flies, too, definitely better than fly spray. I can't recommend these enough. oh - and as for the openings - plenty of breathing room and the insects don't go down into the wraps. So they do the job of protecting the legs from bites, no excessive sweating, dries when it rains.

I love these Fly Boots! The velcro is strong, they always stay up and they keep the flies away - no more stomping. They are easily washed with the hose too.

These boots work wonders for my horses feet. They don’t stomp at flies so feet stay in good shape.

This Shoofly brand works well keeping flies off. Also, they stay up, where some other brands crinkle down the horse's leg.

Love these ShooFly Leggins! My horse absolutely hates it when I try to put fly spray on her legs. I tried many other brands of leggings and none of them worked well. ShooFly works the best of any I've tried. They even wash nicely. They don't slide down like the others I've tried so the bottoms don't get torn apart. I haven't had to walk around looking for one that fell off. I'm not sure why the flies don't get inside of them as they are loose, but they don't. I highly recommend.

If put on correctly they have stayed on my horse very well. I have the bright orange so he’s easy to spot from a distance. I think they are quite durable considering they are on an animal outside in all kinds of weather. This is the 3rd horse I have purchased for!!!

I wasn't sure how well these would work, but my horse has had them on 24/7 for one week and they look to be in good shape. Best of all though, he's not stomping his feet at all with them on, so I would definitely say they're fulfilling their purpose! I was also worried his legs would get sweaty with these on, but they're loose and have great ventilation, even around the pastern. Do they look stupid? Kind of, but not as bad as I thought they would look. Worth it for the relief from the flies they give him. His legs aren't sweaty or rubbed at all with these on, and he seems very happy with them.I read the reviews and wasn't sure on sizes, so I ordered both the large and the medium. They were nearly the same height, but I stuck with the large because I wanted them to be loose enough on his pasterns to be able to reach down to the top of his hooves, which the large did but the medium did not because of the smaller opening. My horse is a 17hh Thoroughbred for reference. I suggest ordering based on your horse's bell boot size, not necessarily the height.

Somehow flies don't seem to go down these things so they keep my gelding from stomping. Durable in turn out too. The only thing is they don't seem to be designed as rights and lefts (in fact all 4 in the package are marked "L"), so the velcro is only facing backward on 2 of the 4. Minor problem though
