Nothing sticks to Silpat!Sasa Demarle Inc. was founded in 1965 by M. Guy Demarle in Northern France. Mr. Demarle was an experienced baker who was seeking a better way to make baguette bread with forms using non-stick silicone coatings. He went on to invent the first non-stick baguette baking trays or filets, as they are known in France. A few years later, Mr. Demarle also went on to invent and create the original Silpat and is known around the world as the original non-stick baking liner. Since then, we continue to strive for improvements in non-stick products for the baking, patisserie and food-service industries.

This silpat baking mat is worth the extra money over it's imitators. It is made by the inventor of silicon mats and is top quality, and safe for food (never cut to size as that would release fibers). Easy to use, keeps pans clean, baking quality is excellent and incredibly easy to clean with a sponge. Do yourself a favor and stop wrestling with cleaning messy baking pans by using the liner. It also turns out a great finished product with baked goods not too browned on the bottom. Any grease that is expelled also sits on the mat, a nice bonus to minimize grease on the food.

This mat is great! Nothing sticks, and it's easy to clean. It's a bit big to fit my smallest cookie sheet, and a bit small for my medium size, so I opt to use it in the medium rather than having it hang over the small. The only problem this has created so far is when I make oven-roasted potatoes some of the liquid (water from potatoes, and olive oil) accumulates around the edges of the silpat and burns onto the cookie sheet. The potatoes do not brown as nicely as on a cookie sheet, but I'll take that over cooking on straight aluminum.Great for making chocolate almond bark! I spread the chocolate mixture on, refrigerate it for an hour, and the bark peels off very easily.

I used to own a Silpat, and I loved it. I don't know what happened to it but, because I had a good experience with it before, I decided to get another one. Now, I mostly just use my baking sheet for cooking frozen fries. Since it is kind of pain to have to wash the whole baking sheet every time, I would usually just line it with foil, throw the fries on, cook them, and then throw away the foil. Instant clean-up! But, I figured it might be better to get a silicone baking mat, rather than throwing away all that foil. For some reason, it is hard to find one that is the exact right size, for my 10x13in baking sheet, but this one is close enough (slightly small). I have only used it 5 or 6 times, but it is working great. For the fries, the oven is set at 425 degrees, so I can vouch for the mat being able to handle that, just fine. Even after the first use, there is a little discoloration, specifically where the fries were laying. My guess is that the oil/fat from the fries soaked into the mat. Even after hand washing (I don't have a dishwasher), the mat still feels a little greasy, but whatever.

Silpats are synonymous with baking mats. Baked goods slide right off of the mats, which are easy to clean. I haven’t encountered any issues with discoloration from heat. These are versatile and easy to pop into the dishwasher.

We have had these for over a month and the higher quality that makes these higher in price is evident to us. The mats are holding up and are a thicker quality then the generic brands…as someone who has had both, I will buy these if I ever need to replace them

My primary reason to purchase these was for the environment. I knew using them would prevent parchment paper from going into the trash, but parchment paper will degrade. After my purchase, I read that these last about a year - so they will end up in the trash anyway and won't degrade as easily as parchment. I know I should be willing to get by without either item and be willing to scrub my pans instead. Shame on me. When these die, I will go back to parchment. The other thing that surprised me - I clean them thoroughly, but you can still see the outline of the cookies. I rub them and they aren't oily, so go figure. A third issue is they are coated fiberglass. My purchase caused more fiberglass to be put into the world - again shame on me. They do work slick as far as nothing sticks, and cleaning my pans is easy, so they perform as intended. I just didn't think through the environmental impact like I should have. I am careful with my things so hopefully they will last longer than a year.

I bought one of these after reading how bad making aluminum foil is for the environment. It fit perfectly on my cookie sheet and absolutely nothing I have tried has stuck yet. Clean up is super easy too, no difficult scrubbing or burned looking spots. I just purchased another one!My only gripe if you could call it that is that they don’t seem to make one to fit my circulon baking sheet.
